WONDERING wrote: <quoted text> THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DROOG ! As someone who has known Nick Patterson for many years, I can truly say that he was a guy that cared about others more than himself. He had his own internal conflicts about the necessity of the war, but also had the integrity to fulfill his commitment to his country. Ironically, Nick was the type of guy that would have befriended anyone, even outcasts like Droog and Wondering. God will judge us all someday and I won't presume to know what He thinks of the war. Nick was a great guy and will be missed by all and nothing anyone says about him on here will change that.

I am not sure if Droog is still writing comments concerning other soldiers similar to those he left about my husband, but I must add my thoughts. It must be easy for you to sit behind your computer and make judgments about someone whom you never met. My husband joined the Army to defend his Country.....he did not choose to be sent to Iraq. He was called upon and fulfilled his duties as a solider. While I must admit a few comments on this page were very hurtful to read, I must also remember to feel pity for you and those who choose to spew venom from their mouths. Nick was a loving and generous man who would do anything for anyone. I am proud of him and proud of the men he fought bravely with and died with. I hope that you are able to sleep peacefully at night. I pray that when you meet your maker that he will have mercy on your soul. I, for one, will join my husband in heaven to spend eternity with the One that brought us together and the One that held his hand at his death.

I have my doubts whether you will "join your husband in heaven" as the good Lord who created it would not want his vile soul stinking the place out. Droog ( whose post was removed) was being logical, not venomous). Your husband was not "defending his country" as Iraq never posed the slightest threat. He got his just deserts for helping destroy an ancient country and murder its innocent people. For that his soul will burn in hell for a eternity - which is probably not long enough. His choice was simple: good or evil. He chose evil and paid the price. The world is a better place without him and human garbage of his kind.

Thank you Sgt. Patterson, for the privilege of living in the safety you have provided for my family and yours. God bless your family and protect them until they meet you again. Many thanks to all service members, past and present. You don't know how much we ordinary Americans appreciate you men and women.

What exactly did he do to make you and his family safer? Kill Iraqis? Did they ever threaten you? Come on, give us a clue! Don't be shy.

Droog wrote: His wife, albeit simple-minded, should have no difficulty, especially when she gets the compensation, in finding a better man to take care of her and the boy. Hopefully, it will be some time before his son experiences the shame that comes with having a murdering piece of filth for a father. Maybe folks will pretend his father only helped illegally occupy Iraq in order to give candy to children.
This seems a kindly comment and I can't help but wonder why it was removed. By the way, does anyone know if she did find a decent man to replace the grunt?
