hey all you prospective millionaires with high hopes of someday receiving social security checks,

what the hell did you people do with state money.
understand fraud?
a superintendant lied about school census to receive better pay for old, uneducated, not educating enough teachers, and now the city may have to pay that money back or lose the school district. only in a small town can something so obsurd occur. and where is this superintendant who use to be an art teacher now? how will the problem bee fixed? taxes, taxes, taxes. or will the fine people of premont who no onger have children in the school district voteagainst the tax plan?

You can't lie about ADA. It's based on PEIMS. PEIMS consists of the currently enrolled students' names and their social security numbers. TEA traces those names so how can you make up names? Each school turns in their current enrollment to the central office. However, when ADA is reported to the state, you don't report the current year. You report either the year before or two years before, I'm not sure. So of course your numbers could be different from the present enrollment. It's not that you are lying. This year there could be 600 students and two years ago there could have been 700.

One thing is for certain the TRE their tring to pass is for current and pass screw ups. This board has passed 5 unbalanced budgets in pass 5 years, spent 2 million dollars that they had in savings and now is running only on a loan they got a few months ago. That is why they want TRE to pass to cover up their pass short falls. It has nothing to do about our KIDS. PLEASE TEA COME IN AND SAVE US!!!!

Yes the TRE is on NOV. 4th ballot,
A vote "for" is that you agree to tax increase
A vote "against" is that you disapprove.
I as many in our district have seen our kids education been flushed down the toilet. If this tax roll back was strictly for the kids education it would have my and the majority of the tax payers support, but its not, its to cover up present and passed finacial mis-managment of the Board. Its the Boards final decision if bills get payed!!!! they have total finacial oversite. But I dont believe many of them are capable of understanding the concept of running within a balanced budget, it has been proven in last 5 yrs. the adoption of 5 consecutive unbalanced budgets. Even a graduate of PISD like myself can see that will end up in desaster, the state we're in now.

I think the truly sad story about Premont ISD is that a good majority of the community still has faith in the school board and the administrators. The notion that "certified teachers" are somehow better than "non certified teachers" is silly. Wake up! TEA allows for school districts to hire teachers that have degrees in their respective area where there are critical shortages (ie math and science) The problem with Premont ISD is that 7 board members who have never been in a classroom as educators think they have the answer. It is sad what has happened to Premont ISD. Remember a vast majority of people did not want the former superintendent because of various reasons. He has been gone for over a year. Learn to take responsibility for your own actions and reflect in the reality that the only people you have hurt are the students of Premont ISD and their right to a quality public education! Bravo members of the board on a job well done!

Dr. Cano himself stated in a townhall meeting " in my history with TEA, they have with 100% certainty corrected Eduactionlly and finacially troubled school dist." If they the board and sup were trully concerned with our kids, they should be asking for TEA to come, not be asking for more money to blow away. ASK any boardmember when was last time they met at KING's INN for meeting. Our kids eating cold Whataburgers how sad is that.

Heres a fact for you, wake up. Last year a non-certified teacher that had the highest percentage of passing students taking TAKS. Board and Sup got rid of this teacher soully on not having certification.
I trully wish there was test for board members to take before taking office. In our current boardroom I see nothing but dunce caps.

Your ex-superintendent ex-art teacher is now sitting comfortably at Laredo ISD with a big A$$ title and a fat salary. Laredo ISD is festering with "comadrismo" and is worse than Premont ISD as far as politics is concerned.

Premont ISD has gotten rid of some trash (at the admin office) who had a hand in financially ruining the district along with the ex-sup. And I heard that DG's golden boy skipped town also. Golden Boy had a hand in over spending since he got everything he asked for from "Big Daddy" with no questions asked. Too bad his bills never got paid and some companies will never deal with PISD again.

I agree that school board elections are a popularity contest. Some board trustees have no business running for the board and there should be some kind of eligibility criteria for candidates who want to run a multi-million dollar business.

It's a sad time for Premont ISD. My condolences to all the good citizens and good students.

Given a choice, would you want your child taught by a certified teacher, or some average joe? Im not saying there arent good teaching aides, im just saying thats what higher education is for.

If you were at the board meeting on Monday, letters from TEA were read. According to TEA, the enrollment in Premont ISD has ALWAYS been reported accurately. You cannot lie on ADA. The students are tracked through their social security numbers.

i gotta agree with this post. Garza was paid way too high for his job. Phyllis was a coverup for many things. I hope they can straighten this crap out and progress forward. I dont know about the enrollment part, and how much is true there. But all we can hope for is the school not to close down because of this regression thats going on.

"What to do" if you think Garza was paid too much, the new supt is getting paid a lot more than Garza was - like $20,000+ more. It's public record. That's too much money for the enrollment the district has now.
