What Happened with The Relay for Life???

I was told that this year would be better then last year but it was actually worse. The relay was unorganized and boring. I understand the whole point is to raise money for cancer but at the same time we are spending all night at the relay at least be a fun event so everyone would want to stay. I hope someone new will take over the relay I think it's time for a change. Just voicing my opinion I know I will probably get criticized for this but I just think this event could have gone better.

I think the Relay for Life went very well, I stayed there all night and it was pretty fun.

And what did you do to help? Everyone is always so quick to criticize anything good that goes on here in Falfurrias! These great volunteers did the best they could with the little support that they do get. We need more people like them in this town if we ever want things to start getting better! Why don't YOU TAKE IT OVER next year if you don't like what you saw? We need the good citizens of Falfurrias to STOP COMPLAINING AND START DOING SOMETHING...ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS TOWN BETTER!!!! Support the Relay for Life! Support the volunteer Firemen! Support the people that are trying their best to make Falfurrias better!!!

This year the realy was a disaster. Miriam needs to put someone else in charge she is doing a horrible job.

And why don't you step up? It sounds like you are interested. I can give you all the names you need to put one together for next year. I am baffled at how many complain, but do not offer any kind of suggestions or action to improve the community. Before you complain, make sure you can offer a positive solution to any given topic or situation. The OH no Why me again. Why do they make me feel so bad. I am such a handicap. These people can't get me out of my seat. People with greater disabilities do a lot more than those that have full physical and mental ability. Before you decide to criticize, ask yourself, how could I have contributed to make it better? Where could I have helped the committee? Could I have asked for donations from local vendors. Get information off the internet about various Cancer survivors and create leaflets with information. Pens and note pads and goody bags. Where are there free screening? The list can go on and on and on.... Stop being a pessimist. Action proves more than sitting back and complain. Those that move achieve. Those that sit and complain always stay behind. I love volunteering where ever I can. I enjoy mentoring young teenagers to become independent and show them how to value themselves in this world and to know that if they will strongly, they will achieve anything on this earth.

I will get the information for you within a few days. This is brave and admirable of you to inquire on how to get involved. Many young adults should become leaders. This type of volunteer and mentoring may be added to your portfolio for major universities, especially those on the east and west coast. Save all the letters and certificates for any kind of community work and letters from chairpersons. Think Big.

I have some numbers for this region. The National number is 1-800-227-2345. The regional number and representative you may find on the internet by looking for the American Cancer Society in Edinburg or McAllen. Due to privacy I choose not to post the name or number without their consent. The website:www.cancer.org.
In conversation with a representative in this region, they are very happy with the current chairperson for Falfurrias. However more people are always needed to volunteer and give of their time to this cause. It is best to work as a community, rather than to lay all the responsibility on one individual.

Cancer is not something to joke about. There are many children who lose their mother or father at toddler age. My son was six years old when his 42 year old father died. I was suppose to have died by his first birthday from ovarian cancer. He could have been an orphan without his parents. I survived. There are many who don't. So it is best to keep your ignorance out of this. Leave for those who have a legitimate purpose. Do not be such a D---.

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO! some one needs to shut these pessimists up; u did a GREAT job. I am a citizen and am proud of miriam and all the community volunteers that helped organize the relay. for those of u that feel that it wasn't the best, heck, u should at least be proud of what the community has done for these patients.

I would not use the words or tone that "agree" uses.
It is a very simple equation. Just have more participation in the community. Not everyone is going to be happy, no matter if you get 100% participation. Some will find a flaw. Just remember it is all for a worthy cause. Women can continue being loving wives and mother. Men can continue to preserve their manhood. Organ transplants may be an option. The young ones, can have the opportunity to attend proms and accomplish great careers. Some will be able to wear wigs, made from real hair, that is donated. At the end, it is not whether we have a great time, rather than it is for a great cause and at the end it is our great reward.

i agree with the person who said that we need to make falfurrias a better place but miriam gets involved with all these organizations just to give herself all the credit and doesn't care about how the results will be just as long as her name is on it. just like the parades i thought lourdes trevino would do a great job until miriam got in the picture and made herself president of some committee and now the parades are just tow trucks and cop cars. as far as in as her having a boyfriend no can no that but that would explain why she talks about her leaving her husband. seems like miriam finds a way to come out on top but people need to start realizing that she will never change. over the years she has managed to manipulate people in to believing that she is something she is not so can someone answer me who is she going with oh yea the only thing that both of her previous and this husband agree on is that she is bipolar
