amen! and there will be another miracle for Moloka'i because of St. Damien: pilgrims which will flock to our island and that will enhance our very poor economy IF our planners will see the light at the end of the tunnel here to allow little B&Bs and other home-based businesses and services to cater to those pilgrims.
and that takes alot of prayers.

Toguchi wrote to the late Pope John Paul II about her cure, setting in motion a process by which the Catholic Church determines if a person is worthy of sainthood. The cause requires a second miracle. The first miracle attributed to Damien was the spontaneous recovery of a terminally ill French nun in 1895, and he was declared "blessed" in 1995.

I find it hard to believe that the reason why the Vatican is considering granting Father Damien sainthood was because of the recent miracles and not for his lifelong dedication and service to God by minstering and servicing the leprosy residents of Molokai till his death. Despite orders from the Vatican to leave he decided to stay and chose to live among the residents upon contracting the terminal illness and then eventual death. His continued unwavering servanthood to God should be the basis of becoming a saint.
I still fathom at the fact that the Catholic church and the Vatican had condemned Father Damien when he chose to stay on Molokai and disobeyed the orders of the church.

as usual, it's all about people CONTROLLING other people. politics in churches! but God and good people like St.Damien win out every time. and miracles will happen, most of them not even publicised, most of them through God's work in every day people. however it's goood to have these token saints to publicise God's work and strengthen our faith, no matter which sect we chose to worhip Him.
hey, i am making rosaries, and i ain't even catholic.

What is wrong with you people giving God like attributes to Father Damien? He was a man just like you and me. He may have devoted his life to God and did good works during his time on earth but that is all there is to it. God and God alone is responsible for any miracles that take place. Not man. If you want to praise Father Damien for his commitment to his fellow man, then you are right in doing so, but let's not forget the focus here should be on God Almighty and him only. It is so pathetic to see man glorify himself. Give to God what is His, all glory and worship. God has no superstars on earth. The bible says not one among us is righteous, our only grace is through his Holy Son. Have we forgotten that? Nothing we can do on earth will make us worthy of praise. Honor God, not man. Yes, we know that Father Damien did good for his brothers but he is no better in Gods' eyes than you or me. Make God the focus, not man.

How come the media does not mention that she was also undergoing radiation treatment at the same time she "experience a miracle"? It's all some trumped up media ploy of this corrupt Vatican to "promote" itself at any opportunity, be it making a man a "saint"!

God, holy spirit, son of god, jesus are all brain-washed rubbish icons, to control mankind at the benefit of power lustful organizations like the Vatican, Christian churches, Islamic idiots and governments.

Why don't the media instead concentrate on science that have proved beyond a doubt in curing cancer, but they don't call it a miracle, its called knowledge. Miracle, faith, "trust in him" are all circular statements that does one NO GOOD, because it EXCLUDES one for thinking for oneself and be servitude as slaves to the church!

So all you fools believing in such religious nonsense are IDIOTS and deserve to be slaves!

This whole area of miracles is an intriguing one. Those people who claim they never occur will never convince those people who are positive they have experienced them. I guess my question for Star-Bulletin readers is that if their have been, are, and will be miracles happening do they always have to, perhaps by a sort of inherent necessity, be religously based?

You're as brain-washed as all these religious fools come by! The "holy son" so called "jesus" forgot to pay Lt. Governor the State's requirement for a name change! Because the real name of the 5th prophet was Jmmanuel, which is only mentioned ONCE in the Old Testament, but stricken forever in the "New Testament"....

Thus, jesus...the "son" is a fallacy, created by corrupt power lustful thugs to lead others into slavery and servitude to the Church! The only "miracle" is the amount of $$$MONEY$$$ going into the Vatican's coffers!

Yeah....praise the lord and give me your wallet!

Damien stood up against the tyranny of native leaders and stood by the common hawaiian. He deserves our thanks!
