Blame it on Tegrin, the medicated shampoo that was advertised repeatedly as a partial treatment for "the heartbreak of psoriasis" so that every hypochondriac imagined every skin bump and patch was an indication they had the disease.

I have a very mild form of psoriasis. I thought I had staph and was referred to a dermatologist. He told me there is no treatment yet except steroid creams you rub on every day or else take sunbaths more frequently. Thankfully I have a private back yard where the exhibition of my bloated carcass will not cause lynch mobs. I have read that there are 6 genes that are suspected to cause this skin disorder, and depending on which genes are expressing themselves determines what form of the disease you have. I am lucky that the effects are only skin deep. If you are unlucky in the gene lottery psoriasis can go internal and cause arthritis and attack organs.

I've had psoriasis since I was 14 and the last five years have been most painful. Finally found a natural solution that works! Last month, I started to wear short sleeve shirts and shorts and I felt so liberated! Check out my testimonial at howtobeatpsoriasis.com . Their program is truly God's answer to our prayers!

I have psoriasis for over 5 years now. Some spots on my torso but my scalp and some spots on my face are the worst. I dread every single time when I cut my hair. The old time barbers know what it is but the younger ones I have to explain what it is before they start to cut my hair. Anyone wanna share their experiences?

I have very mild psoriasis(and eczema). It was much worse when I lived on the mainland (in a cold, dry climate). My flare-ups haven't been too bad since I moved back to Hawaii. They say the sunlight can help a bit.

Yes, psoriasis is a very frustrating disease to have - there is no cure, and people don't understand it. However, we must all remember that there are people who have to face MUCH worse diseases and disabilities in this world. Just gotta do our best to manage it, and to try and live the best lives that we can.

Get plenty people with psoriasis - Olympic swimmer Dana Torres, singer LeAnn Rimes, and many others. We're not alone.

This is a great article!

Great article! And thanks to Trisha for putting it out there. I have friends who are so heroic in dealing with their psoriasis, and you have helped to make it OK to talk about. A toast to you!
