"If I can make it, you can make it," said Inouye, "but you have to work hard."

hahaha...funny! With Nobama leading this nation, we don't have to work and the government will pay for everything! I don't have to worry about paying for gas, my house, etc! Eh kids, don't shoot for the stars! Don't have dreams! Just hope the US becomes a socialist state!

Work hard so you can bail out the others who make wrong decisions.

Great advice. Work hard. Doesn't he want to tell the truth that connections and having money will make it easier to get further ahead? He is decieving the kids because the system, including the congress, is a scam institution based on money and pay offs. NOT HARD WORK.

Raking in the pork, pushing for ineffective wealth-distributing bills, keeping the "Jones Act", as is, so Hawai'i`s citizens will continue to pay high prices on EVERYTHING while Matson keeps getting wealthier, at our expense; telling the public in the 1980's that "Hawai'i only needs two inter-island air carriers" while preventing more competition (And in effect, preventing lower prices, more choices and better service to the Hawai'i consumers) and submitting a low-life leech like Tommy Waters to be a Federal judge is an example of "making it"?

Time to retire from public life, Senator.

You don't even try to hide being corrupt and "bought and paid for" anymore.

Jill Baldemor claims, "The kids really resonate with him (Inouye). He is such a model for them".

A model? Dan Inouye? How?

How to play partisan politics and keep the people of Hawai'i held hostage with high prices, a high cost of living and then trying to fool voters into thinking he's doing us a favor by "bringing home the bacon", when he should be working harder by reducing government tax and spend waste? Make it more accountable and allow the taxpayers to keep more of what they earn?

I can imagine the questioning from SB reporter, Rosemarie Bernardo, to young Brooks Tanonaka.

Bernardo: "So what's your opinion of Senator Inouye, Brookes?"

Brookes: "Okay"

Bernardo: "Was it a priviledge for you to have the Senator visit your school?"

Brookes: "Yes"

Bernardo: "Why?"

Jill Baldemor: "The kids really resonate with him. He is such a model for them".

Give the man his due. He has accomplished much, from being on the Watergate committee to being chair of the Iran Contra investigation committee. As Senate Appropriations committee chair, he plays an essential role in the stimulus package. For all you naysayers out there, go out and get a job.

We do have jobs, and our hard earned tax dollars get sucked out for useless government programs and "pie in the sky", "feel good" bills. That's why we aren't giving him his "dues".

Wake-up and stop keeping your eyes wide shut.

Ah yes, work hard young grasshopper and earn much taxable income. We need you young grasshoppers working hard so we can pay for all the entitlement programs we promised the baby boomers.

(Off camera and over in the corner)Young grasshopper, come over here I want to whisper something in your ear: Shhhh...Don't tell the boomers but they're in for a big surprise when it comes time to collect the benefits they worked their whole lives for. We spent so much bailing out our Wall Street masters that there's nothing left for them. The young grasshopper gasps and tells the corrupt politician "But my grandpa and grandma are counting on those benefits so they can have a nice retirement". Shhhhh...not so loud kid. Now don't you worry about your grandpa and grandma's retirement, we've got a special place set aside for them when they can't work anymore and stop paying into the system. "You mean like a special retirement community?" the young grasshopper asks. Yeah, it'll be something like that kid but instead of playing golf and gardening they'll be spending their golden years with thousands of other non-productive...ooops...I mean senior citizens...up in the mountains living in nice long buildings with high fences all around to keep them safe. Don't worry kid we have it all planned, your grandpa and grandma are going to be well cared for.

Now run along young grasshopper and remember what Uncle Danny said: WORK HARD!

Us naysayers don't have decent jobs because all the choice jobs go th Dan Inouye's friends and relatives. As Eric Seabury said, "Wake up and see what's going on." I am glad he didn't come tp my school.

Americans have to learn to actually do real work. Learn a trade, work with your hands, build/invent things. We have too much people sitting at a desk doing NOTHING. Bankers, Financial Advisors, Lawyers, governement workers etc...

According to the vetrans at the Ala Wai Vetrans Club, Senator Daniel Inouye was a disgrace as a soldier of the U.S. armed forces. His first medal was given not for his heroic efforts but the skilled writer that was with him turned the story around and made him the hero. Many vetrans have passed on but the true story remains.

I'm sure that's what Obummer and company are trying to have in store for us. The one problem the crooks in DC is that there are a LOT of guns and ammo out there in the hands of a those who paid all their lives into the biggest Ponzi Scheme of all time and WILL NOT ACCEPT getting ripped off by said clowns. Just TRY to make their day, Senator et al!'Nuff said...

True inspiration for Hawaii's youth from the Senior Senator... No doubt, that rhetoric from an 80 something guy, will stir them to action and upward mobility...

Come on Danny, serve up more than that tired old stuff...

You'd be proud of me. I'm working with my hands right now and I'm building something pretty big. Oh, but I am sitting at a desk. Maybe you wouldn't be so proud of me after all.

Great points... Bankers, financial advisors, and lawyers, in consort with politicians have done more to bring this country to its knees, than Bin Laden could have dreamed possible, trying to make easy money defending turf and profit centers in the process...
