The Sierra Club is right. I just pray the Governor Lingle Veto's the bill. Currently, approximately 8% of the land in Hawaii is commercially or residentially zoned including military, 40% is conservation and 40% is agriculture. If 15% of the ag land is up zoned, that is almost a 200% increase in commercial and residential zoning. Awe!

"We, unlike other persons, did not steal this land from anyone. We did not go into other people's countries with guns and cannons and forcibly take their land and possessions."
Tell that the the ghosts of Iao Valley and the Pali. Invading Big Island warriors slaughtered everyone in their path. No count if Kanaka kill Kanaka? Stop dreaming.

What emergemcy? Aloha Air cargo is operating, other cargo carriers stepped up to the plate. It is amamzing what happens when Government stays out of the way! Call out the National Guard? Please stop the grandstanding! What is even more amazing is some people still fall for Abercrombie's grandstanding.

Smoky needs to get out of the smoke, the man is ignorant and Lingle and Inouye both played their respective roles correctly. Call up the National Guard..you and Neil are idiots. This is a private sector issue and not a proper venue for the National Guard to enter. However I suspect that Smoky would call out the Guard when he needs to pick up his grocery.

How come we don't see any successful, intelligent Hawaiians protesting? Only the lolos are out there. And I bet they want to be the leaders of the new government. Beware of Hawaiian leaders - look at Waihee - he p****d away a $400 mullion surplus, and his son used OHA money to stock his wet bars in his office.
Gimme a break.

Mr. Chuck Freedman,
while I respect your opinion, I have one observation/interperation of the words. "the bill is not without controversy, but (USED WELL) it can stimulate agriculture and augment the sustainability with our islands".
This words "used well" brings to mind interperations by our illustrious ex-president william jefferson clinton----"it depends on what the meaning of the word is, is"-----
Well meaning does not mean well written (lawyer speak-for loopholes), if you leave an inch they will find the miles in the loopholes....
It seems our polititions purposely leave in these "loopholes" because I think thats where the money is, get it.....
Still from Kaneohe.

Hawaii is and always was an absolute jewell. It had to happen and of all the possibles I'm glad it was American that stepped in and took control. I'm glad I didn't grow up on Oahu speaking Russian or French or Japanese as my native tongue. Michelle Pokipala will waste her life wishing for and demanding the day when native Hawaii rules itself. As a Hawaiian myself I suggest you change your discussions at the kitchen table from hate to all things possible. Take a can do attitude towards yourself and especially your keki. Education will set you free and allow you and yours to gain self respect, emotional and financial freedoms and control of your own destiny, in English, under the American Flag.
