Rehab is only in it for the $$. They push out patients to nursing homes or refuse to take patients in need of rehab. Patients are having to get rehab at Hale Nani and other places. Rehab only wants the quick turnaround. I'd like to see if they really do take the more complex patients. Rehab Hospital is only for the rich. Go to their golf tournament and it reads like the VIP listing of Honolulu. But, oh yeah, the average Joe can't afford the tournament fee. Very exclusive... The winners of the door prizes (the VIPs) do NOT donate their winnings to charity or to the Rehab staff (nursing, therapists, etc). Ha, ha! Very charitable!

You are so right. Rehab doesn't talk about how they converted the second floor from an intensive rehab unit to one specializing in joint replacements...a much more profitable group of patients to work with. The question is if one has a degenerative neurological disease or an accident that causes damage to the brain or spinal cord where do they go in Hawaii for care.
The nursing homes are full...the new Medicaid programs...in the past known as Nursing home without walls...suck.... and who is left to provide services to persons with significant health care issues...
Then they wonder why Queens and others have to come to the state for money. Shame on you rehab hospital of the pacific. The name of your game is profit...you turn your back on those you raise money to serve.

What's with some of these posters? Isn't it common sense that all business are in it for profit? If a business is not being paid enough to cover costs such as with Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements, they will only head towards bankruptcy. Pay them more and they will stay open to make more profit.
Would any of you work for free? If you tell your employer that you'll work for $4,000 per month and you know our expenses are $5,000 per month, how long do you think you'll be able to pay your rent or mortgage before you get evicted?
Rehab Hospital of the Pacific is doing the right thing by closing some clinics. It's better to do it now instead of waiting until their backs are against the wall.
