It is about time to re-begin shark hunts around the islands as was done in the 50s and 60s-----this is not good for mainlanders and locals---it only isnt done because of environmentalists and their allies-----this is an ongoing problem which can be lessened if we get our head out of the sand.

I remember that eradication process was done when I was a kid and it was sad having them kill those magnificent creatures. I think it was bought to a halt by enviromentalist activists etc. Now, they are all triple their size and it's their world that we are stepping into (the ocean) no need to kill, we have to respect. Todd we are wishing you a speedy recovery and thanking God you are still with us. Take care bro' and get well.

Way to suck 'em up Todd--Prayers are with you Bruddah.

To da manini talking crazy about hunting sharks again--

The ocean is the shark's world, not ours. When shark attack occur, they don "hang around" and can be miles away in a short period of time after the attack. Proof is it doesn't work!

Aaumakua should be respected.

Get well soon Todd. All should heed the warnings of staying out of the water when murky conditions prevail. The need to surf shouldn't make one careless. It isn't worth the pain. Been there, done that but was very lucky. Sharks do what they do,feed!

Thank God that Todd did not meet a lawyer down there! With a shark he had a fighting chance!

Get well Todd.

Todd rest up and hope you get back to work soon. As a fellow surfer, your story reminds us of how unpredictable our lives are and why it is important to tell our loved ones we love them whenever we can. I tell my wife I love her always before I surf. You are very fortunate and your life is and will be a blessing to many. See you in the line-up.

That's a long paddle back to shore! lucky his artery was not severed. Good luck in your recovery. For all those who do surf and dive at crouching lion I got news for you, there always was big sharks that travel that reef. Along that whole coastline for that matter. Todd was just a target of opportunity and chance encoutner with the shark.

I live in Huntington Beach, California, and just now saw this news being aired on local TV. I wanted to find the most effective way to send my support and emotional strength to Todd and his 'ohana. I wish you a very successful and speedy recovery, and know that you've got the support of one strong follower way out here on the mainland!

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Aries

The behaviour of somebody around you (most probably your partner or family member) may be rather irrational today. Alternatively, a surprise involving one of these people is possible. Try to keep your domestic plans reasonably flexible to cover all possible outcomes. The focus is on improving your relationship with your partner or with friends today. Any outings should go very smoothly.
