I was hired to sale kirbys a while back. I was young and needed a job. The ad said $1750 per month so i took the job. These people would use vans to carry their employees far enough away that you could not walk home. They drop you off in a random area and tell you to go door to door trying to sell these things. At this time they were about $1250 each . We stayed out 10-12 hrs a day cleaning peoples floors for free (if you dont sell, you dont get paid) i did eventually make a sell. They paid me $83. That was about 3 weeks of work. This was in roseville CA. Do not slave for these scammers.

Thanks for your honesty Richard. Again it is not about the product- it is about how employee's are treated.

The guy who "tried" to sale me a kirby back in the early 80's was a user. He was using me behind his wife's back and because of that he lost everything he had prior to becoming a Kirby Salesman who had the ability to sale honey to bears. When I told him to come pick up his kirby as I was a single mom and did not have the money, he came and got it, packed it up and told me he would never speak to me again (that was another lie- he liked women) He decided to move on over to Australia and start up a huge kirby market or so he said and take on lots of young recruits including his son. This guy was a wounded Vietnam vet back in the late 60's who decided he would not need to pay his US child support, US taxes, so on and so forth. I have a feeling he lost everything he had in Australia cause of his wondering ways, and has thus moved on to Hawaii with a new woman and probably a new "office" selling machines. Using the nasty tactics of the really slick sales guys. Ya I still have a resentment over this one.

"anyone can be achive whatever they want in life"
thats what my manager told me when i was new. if you guys wanna call that brain washing then go ahead im glad im "brain washed" you want to sit there and Reticule people for getting me to belive in myself and chase my dreams ? Most kirby distributors are very fair honest and good people that treat there customers like gold .. i grew up with 5 siblings my mom was a single monther and we were very poor now i am Financially independent and you can tell by my gramer that i am now well educated .. i Sponsor childern every christmas and buy them presents at the local school and give back to the community, at the same time during the day i sell kirbys and try to motivate most of the lost 18-21 year olds that walk in the door no to go sell drugs and commit crimes to belive in themslefs and they can achive anything that want in life . what the company tells these so called "poor salesmen" is not brain washing just half of the people are to lazy to take advantage of oppertunity .. so dont feel bad for the salesmen most of the time hes probly making more money that most of you.. Kirby Is no a job if u want a job go punch the clock at walmart kirby is an oppertunity to get out of the corperate "Rat Race" and be independent and make have choices in like. I am living Proof of that
success kirby employee's are not scamed take advantage and follow the Simple program , programs dont fail people fail to follow programs .. its kinda sad how negitive you guys are in life i mean who comes online to vent negitive Frustrations go to the gym or do something positive with you life rather than bash a good company that was created more millionaires that any other company in america you guys are what i call dream stealers
Question: If you are well educated then why can't you spell??

okay, the company will sue you in small claims court, respond with a short trial brief, that is uncommon in small claims, but the court and the judge will allow it. Make sure you file it with the court with enough time to serve it on the collection agency, don`t forget the picture you took with the kirby in front of the sales manager.
Once the day arrives for you to appear, tell the whole truth when it`s your turn and don`t interrupt the plaintiff, speak only to the judge and the truth is you`ll walk out of there, with some wasted time of course but a lesson learned. Have no fear in the face of thy enemy, be brave and upright so that God may love thee, always tell the truth even if it leads to peril, safeguard the helpless, and do no wrong.

You need to not stay, i am a former employee. And it is a huge scam, they will work you longer than legal, and take you far from home so that you can't walk, dropping you off in areas and demanding you to go door to door. And that "commission pay" is a scam! You will not see any of it.

It's definitely a LIFETIME rebuild plan. If something happens to the Kirby the 1st 3 years you send it to the people who sold it to you and they fix it completely free and that's everything but bags belts bulbs and brush rollers because those are easily found at any hyvee or truvalue. it's American made and lasts for many years. it's the #1 owned vacuum in the world. A little understanding goes a long way

Sure Drew- it may be a lifetime rebuild plan, but it has nothing to do with the machines. It is HOW they are sold. If you are working for them, then you must be working for an outfit who does not scam their employees and potential clients.

I have worked for the company for 3 years, have never employed any of these "high pressure" sales tactics. Every day of my life I see what a dyson leaves behind, for a vacuum that is $500 and advertised as never losing suction(which suction is a pressure not a cleaning force) and cleans no better than a $30 Bissell. I have seen people with 30 yr old carpet that looks a year old, they have saved thousands of dollars on shampooing vs. what they used to do. I meet hundreds of people a week that absolutely love everything about their Kirby. Only problem is satisfied people generally aren't the ones who raise a ruckus. I whole heartedly believe in the product (as 90% of ppl I meet do as well). So to those who had an unprofessional experience I apologize and I do not defend their actions. I rather despise them as it gives a man like me a bad name. That being said I have always been paid, I do work 60-90 hrs a week but I have not met any other 24 year olds that make 80+k a year, with the exception of my good friends at Kirby. This is with any company or product, its good for some not for others. I think you should see one before you are so quick to call the company and all its employees such harsh things. By the way Im sure at the company you work for all of the parts are assembled by 3 yr old little Chinese kids for 5 cents a day causing way more issues than someone who didn't work out at a position and lost a week of their time. But if they aren't from America, its not our concern

I have to say kirby has been a bleasing. KIRBY IS FOR EVERYONE BUT NOT EVERYONE IS MADE FOR KIRBY. People are fucken amazing. I have been working for about two month and I have to say the hard work is paying of. IT is amazing the skill I have been grated with by working for Kirby. It is hard work but it pays up. I love it and cant wait to sell a million more of them.

I've been around Kirby my entire life. My father has been a factory distributor for as long as I can remember. Kirby has been great to us. I've been selling them personally for around 13 years. I don't sell with a team though. I grab 2 or 3 machines and start working around 7am averaging 2 sells a day by around 4pm making more money than some doctors. It's a great product for those that care about their homes. I'm sorry for those that have been mistreated by other dealers. Those 12 hr days and no food stories disgust me. My father would never allow that. He usually treats everyone to a good lunch and requests that demos end at 5pm so everyone can be home with their families. Please do not look down on the company or all it's employees for the unscrupulous acts of a few individuals. We're not all made equally when it comes to business practices. God Bless.

I just wanted to add that I do not sing Kirby songs or practice high pressure sales. While I do mention that I'm trying to win my trip or prizes I normally put my sales into other employees names. My wife and I have been on far too many trips over the years and while they're fun, we'd much rather be fishing and I believe that I've kept many people excited and in the business by sending them on the trips and allowing them to have the prestige of the sales. All this being said, I am biased so take my comments with a grain of salt but Kirby is a great company and while some of you have had bad experiences, there are many more that have had great experiences and love their cleaner. God Bless.

I have worked for Kirby on and off since 1999. I've tried lots of jobs bit none as fun and as rewarding as Kirby. I've been a cook and was under paid I've done other jobs that didn't pay well, but while working for Kirby I've been on over twenty free trips, all expenses paid. All around the world to Hawaii, new York, California,Cancun,Disneyland ,u name it. Not to mention all the prizes I've won. The money I made has allowed me to provide for my family in a way that no other job has. We sell a great American product for a fair price. I'd rather sell someone a Kirby for 2500 than sell them a cheap plastic vacuum (Dyson to Hoover all the same) that only blows dust in the air and pushes sand into the carpet for ten bucks. At least we sell a product that does what we make it to do. CLEAN. If anyone should be upset it should be the consumers the waste hundreds off dollars every year on plastic vacuums that never clean and brake down left and right. Costing thousands in carpet damage and unclean air. Btw I don't agree with unfair practices by distributors that don't honor the cancellation. There's always going to be bad business owners everywhere in every franchise but it shouldn't be talked about as Kirby as a whole. But instead that particular owner. And as for Kirby employees that never make it is because of the simple fact that this job is an opportunity for those who aren't afraid of hard work. This is an equal opportunity playing field. It's fair across the board who wants it bad enough. I've always gotten everything that was promised to me otherwise I wouldn't have stayed so long. There's thousands of offices in over 70 countries around the world. We sell thousands of Kirby everyday. That many people can't be wrong. I only wish that all the happy customers that love their Kirbys would voice their happiness but u don't hear from them because their happy using a product that actually works. To the guy that bought the Kirby only to clean his house and than cxl. I don't feel bad for u. To the others I'm sorry u had a bad experience from all of Kirby. But please don't feel sorry for us. I love selling Kirby
