The guy would still be alive if he didn't attempt a burglary. If this or any other guy broke into my house I'd do my best to put him down, too.

And I almost forgot... I'm real tired of reading these stories and how friends and relatives keep saying "he was a nice guy"... "he wouldn't ever hurt anyone".

If he was such a good guy he wouldn't have been stupid and attempted the burglary.

All i know is it is definitely wrong for these guys to be passing judgement on people they don't know one bit. Im sure all of you have never done anything wrong or had a lapse in judgement. Running doesnt incriminate a person either, as i would be inclined to run from a person wielding a gun. However, shooting someone in the back of the head in indeed a cowardly act and has been accepted as one for a long time. And just as bad is speaking ill of the dead so show some respect for once, it could have been your cousin.

IF U DONT KNOW ROBERT THEN DONT SPEAK UP ON HIM.! U GUYS HAVE NO IDEA WHO HE IS AND WHAT A WONDERFUL PERSON HE WAS.. THAT STORE OWNER HAD NO RIGHT 2 SHOOT HIM.. SPECIALLY IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD ARE U SERIUOS.?? THAT STORE OWNER IS A TWO TIME MURDERER AND SHOULD BE CONVICTED.!!
Let's face it, any killing is a tragedy and no one can feel good about this. We have to all come the realization that if Robert had not been burglarizing this business he would still be here today. We need to let our young people know that there will always be consequences for evil deeds.

This is a risk you take when tresspassing and robbing others. Now not only will his daughter grow up without her dad but she will know that he was killed in the commission of a burglary....

Shitty situation. Terrible outcome. We all make mistakes. It is in no way the store owners fault. It is his god given RIGHT to defend what he worked hard for. How did he know he would not be shot himself by an unlawful intruder. Again we all make mistakes and I don't feel Robert had to be killed but you can't put the blame on the store owner that was protecting his families source of income. He works hard it is not like he is rich.

The story I read says the deceased is Antwun Parker?? Who is this cousin Robert? I see many comments made in regards to someone by the name of Robert. Is this story about a 59 year old white man that is a pharmacy owner who shoots and kills a burglary suspect? There were 2 that entered the store, one brandished a weapon and then Earsland pulled out his weapon. One of the thugs ran, Earsland shot the one that remained in the store, runs after the other one and then comes back in the store and shoots the incapciated thug 5 more times. Again, who is Robert???

Gee Tony, Your a real tuff guy sitting there in front of your computer talking shit to a female who is definately in agony over a loved one's death. Listen scumbag do all theives get the death penalty in California or any other state in the the great U.S.? Do WE as a society give this guy or his wife the greenlight to uphold vigilante justice? NO, WE DON'T! This guy & his wife have been defenitely reading to much "Punisher" or watching that "Kick-ASS" movie to much. Those guys were NOT armed and despite being theives they shouldn't of been shot at. When someone's trying to break in my business or place of residence I CALL THE SHERIFF FIRST! THEN GRAB MY GUN (and only use it to defend myself or family if needed) NOT 2 HOURS LATER (YOU IDIOT!) & AFTER I KILLED 1 and had plenty of time to get my story straight. These people are plainly commiting murder if all the news media reporting is correct. These guys were running away. They weren't charging in with guns a blazin'! That guy was murdured! The only thing I agree on is YES, THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE! But com'on man they did not deserve to die either.
Wow! Your kidding me right? I was searching another story and ran across this one. To refresh your memory, I am providing a link to the original story that is about 1 year old. Seems like this man, that didn't deserve to die, smashed out the windows in the comic book store. You don't think that the shop owner may have been fearful or trying to protect his wife?

There are other stories too, none that I saw indicates the store owner waited hours before calling law enforcement. I am so glad that I live in Texas where the Castle Doctrine is law!

I can not believe the justification being given here to a robber. Perhaps he was a nice guy. SO WHAT? He was robbing a store! He was stealing what someone else worked for. The store owner had every right to defend himself and his propwerty. As for the store owner having shot another robber.... Well, maybe now you thieves will get the message. Stay away from that store or get shot. Robert must have been too dumb to heed the message.

Shitty situation for the family. I knew that guy from HS he was cool. But when you're out doing bad things bad things happen back. I am firm in that if a person doesn't contribute to society then what are they doing alive. The victim was the store owner. Don't want to get killed doing a robbery then don't commit one. Sure he was a cool guy but there's no excuse to commit crime. If any one should be charged its the other shithead he was with. That's usually how it goes. Any one defending the criminals actions is retarded. He should have been at home with his family. We all make mistakes and we pay for them. RIP robert summers. Your death was preventable by you.

Lets get this story straight. First, Robert was shot in the front of the head, not the back! He was inside the store not outside! There were two burglars and only one victim, a female! The police were called during the burglary! Not two hours later so she could get her story straight! If Robert was not a burglar, he would be alive today.

Store owner has history of using and being abusive to women too--I was one. Probably going to let his wife take the fall. Sad situation for all.
