Deputies cite 17 for dog violations

Animal control officers and strike team deputies captured 21 loose or stray dogs and issued 17 citations to dog owners in far east El Paso County on Wednesday, a sheriff's spokesman said.

Whose lame idea was this??? What a waste of resources to use "strike team deputies" to capture dogs and cite their owners.

The strays in that area have been threatening water and sanitation workers for a long time as well as killing other people's pets and biting their children.

The coyote population is experiencing a sharp rise in Rabies cases and what do you think will happpen when the coyotes and the strays meet up?????

These scofflaw owners are no better than the ones who don't carry auto insurance or the ones who hook up to the utilities illegally. If the dog bites someone they will refuse to admit it is even their dog.
I had a neighbor who chased her pit bull into the street after it killed her toy poodle and then she reported it as a stray. Animal control went door to door to find the owner to fine them for letting the dog run loose and every one of us told them whose dog it was.
