These guys should have waited a little while because the minnimum wage increase just went into effect......so, they must now pay a vegetable stacker more money because the Government says so.
But it's all for the good of the people right?
The business owner pays more for the employee, so what does he do? Raises the price on a head of lettuce. Wait a minute that affects the consumer.
Yes, it does. But that's what Democrats do.

Another obstacle is the music they play in these stores, nothing but Mexican music.....I avoid these places like the plague unless I really need something. I hope they are more friendly to the other ethnic customers out there.

We shall see.

Hopefully the customer service will go up at the Quality Food Marts in Central El Paso. Its annoying to see the cashiers on the cell phones as you wait in line to check out. The cashiers there know ZILCH about customer service. Customers are treated as second class citizens. The only reason there is repeat business is becasue many customers cannot afford to go elsewhere.

Please, please, start featuring FRESH PRODUCE. You can tell the produce is second rate.

Anything will be an improvement.

Good to see a hometown business expand.

You guys have a lot of work ahead of you. Quality Food Marts have been stale for years. The stores lacked QUALITY in their produce, dairy, meats & employees and appearance.
The Quality on Piedras allows food vendors selling tamales & cooked corn to be just outside their door. These vendors have no health cards, or food licenses. And its too late at night to report them to the City Health Dept.
I go to your stores to buy groceries, not to be hustled by corn sellers.

It is good to see local owners getting ahead. I shop at Vista Market on Zaragosa regularly and I enjoy the food and service they give. I hope they bring this to Quality Food Mart. It will be a huge improvement.

Now you are talking! Everytime we go to San Antonio, we bring bags of groceries back from HEB.

Its an adventure shopping there, great atmosphere, nice employees, large variety of groceries, fresh foods made at the stores. We especially like thier private brand; "Hill Country."

And the prices are great too.

Some years back, Albertson's went into San Antonio and opened up stores. Albertson's could no compete with HEB so they shut down and got out of town. Now Walmart is competing with HEB and my money is on HEB.

Please consider coming to El Paso soon HEB.

I've seen some HEB's that are pretty damn ghetto. The produce quality and selection are not that great either. Especially the one I shop at on Oltorf and Congress (Austin). The only nice HEB's are in the good neighborhoods up north or far west Austin. Keep HEB out of El Paso and keep it local. Best of luck to the new owners.

I've been shopping their stores for a long time now and I've noticed that they are always busy as compared to the larger companies that over charge. Good luck, small guy. May God Bless You.

Just got back from the Quality Food Mart on Piedras.... what a change they are making.

The aisles are wider, produce is finally fresh, well stocked meats. The meat was so fresh I had to slap it.

And the same old cashiers are friendlier.

Hope the El Paso milk war keeps goin on... a gallon of milk is just $1.69.

The best to our hometown grocery brothers!

I for one welcome the change. I am particularly excited about the change coming to the former Quality Mart on Piedras. It will be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

Welcome!

The local food industry here love to monopolize high prices. An abundance of food stamp recepients allows them to keep prices artificially high and thus charge the government more. We on the other hand have to endure ridiculous high prices. Other than Wal-Mart these places, such as Food City are super expensive

Food City right now has 18 eggs for ninety nine cents, qt of Price's milk for $1.

Walmart has expensive items as well. Eventhough Walmart honors competitors prices, they do not always carry the same items.

The new owners of Quality Foods are doing 8 page specials now in the neighborhoods and LOWER PRICES!

The Piedras store now is cleaned up, employees have a better attitude, but unfortuantely still on their cell phones.
