I Hope You Are Proud
Well, State of Oklahoma, I hope you are proud! You have put your nose so far into the family unit and made it so difficult to discipline out-of-control children, that we now have kids roaming the streets in the finest tradition of the post-apocalyptic movies, looking for something, anything, to vandalize.
In all fairness, some controls have to be established... but when parents are afraid to discipline their kids and the interference is so strong and so blatant that the children use the threat of calling DHS to get away with not doing what they are told, something is terribly wrong.
We started out with six photo-electric, battery-powered yard lights. Then we were down to five, and then four, and then we dropped to two. After each time, we would fix the ones we could. Now we are down to one. It REALLY is infuriating. We try to make the house attractive, as is the wish of the City of Stroud. We put out effort AND money, only to have the little vandals of the population come along and kick them over as they walk by, and stomp on them if the kick wasn't enough damage. It really is sad to think that our teen population has to resort to this type of activity to occupy their time.
I realize that, in truth, it actually is only a small portion of the teen population... but that portion undoubtedly hales from family that are afraid to exercise the physical discipline that have become necessary to get the child under control... all because the State got too involved early in the child's life and now the child either doesn't care or enjoys destruction. I have met a number of the current generation who seem to have a complete lack of conscience, which is a complete shame. Couple that with a lack of discipline and you have a recipe for destruction. And that is happening right here in Stroud. What a wonderful generation DHS and their interference has left us! I sincerely hope you are very proud!
