E coli was found in other wells and from the looks of it, water in that area has been contaminated due to run off from cattle, chickens, you name it.

The people who ought to be getting sued are the ones letting all that manure flow so freely. Country Cottage is just a convenient scapegoat.

This is just awful. I still feel like that one guy brought it in and contaminated the whole place. It's not their fault. And it's not his fault for having it when he came in. These people have been in business for years this could have happened to any one at any time. I jus thope everything turns out for the owners of country Cottage. You have a lot of people behind you. Hang in there.

The way I heard it is this: The main water supply pipe (filtered, treated city water) had broken. So the owner hooked up a water supply pipe from an underground water source (no filtration or treatment of any kind). Now who do you suppose is at fault for this horrible tragedy that affected so many innocent people?

".....but were unable to determine the specific vehicle." So how can you sue someone when you can't even prove they did anything wrong? Do these people honestly believe this little restaurant has $2 million dollars? I doubt even if you sold everything in the place including the property you would be lucky to make $500,000.

my thots are this: if Chad had been the carrier, then i think that the people he worked with, and lived with would have gotten sick from him. As well as people from anywhere else he might have gone too; the store, another restaurant. plus he'd been back in the states for 2 months, why would it just be poping up now and not right after he got back. i don't think he was the source.
i think either somebody who worked in the restaurant was careless and didn't wash their hands and touched food or a dish that other people touched and the germs got passed all around or a customer who didn't wash their hands touched things that others touched and the germs got passed that way.
Either way everybody involved has been hurt by this. The restaurant will never be the same, they don't have anywhere close to the amount of business they used to have, and lots of the people who are sick will have issues for quite some time if not their whole lives.
i feel sorry for all who are involved.

They for sure don't have that kind of money. They have reopened but there is no where near the crowd there used to be. If these people win this case all they will have is a judgement. They won't see any money. They don't have the money.

But wasn't the common denominator with all of these peoples' illnesses traced back to the restuarant?

I can't say as I blame them for wanting to sue but the truth is even if they get a judgement I doubt the owners will be able to come up with that kind of lawsuit money. This probably isn't even covered under their insurance, not to this extent. Probably most of the people's bills were paid by their own insurance. Plus you know it's a buffet, it could have been some person that had dirty hands and everyone that touched the tongs that person used got sick...this is why I don't like buffet.

Didn't the restaurant have a commercial liability insurance policy? Maybe all of you who think that this lawsuit is so awful would be willing chip in your own money to help pay for the hospital bills for the victims. I know one of the victims (4 years old) who is awaiting a kidney transplant! SO, after you finish taking pity on the restaurant, trot on over to the cottage and have a big ol' helping of meatloaf, why don't ya!

A person lost their life over this - do you not think that qualifies as a tragedy? Not to mention people in the hospital for months.. It wasn't just "a few days" thing...

how much cut is the attorney going to get, the health dept already said it coulsnt pinpoint the source of the specific vehicle. I could be that the Restaurant did NOTHING WRONG. Its all about the money and thats it. Its sad to see a local restaurant in a nice community be destroyed by the greed for money. I have eaten at this place many times and never got sick. I feel sorry for the owners.

What is the tragedy?? One person is dead and many others were hospitalized, some with kidney failure. Many will have medical problems the rest of their lives...thats the tragedy.

I still don't think it was the fault of the restaraunt. I feel for these people definately. I don't know if they will ever figure it out completely. And yes, I would eat there now. Not the meatloaf though. I don't like anyone's but my own...LOL

I think it was but they never found evidence to prove they were the original source of the Ecoli. They found it everywhere in Locust Grove. It's really strange. Looks like it could be pinpointed somehow.

Because of the restuarants perfect past record, and the source cannot be identified, the evidence points to a customer being the one who brought the e-coli in. These people that a sueing have only found a lawyer that is willing to take THEIR money. I am betting on the Country Cottage winning this.
