I love OA. But sometimes it's difficult to go there. Not because the program isn't good, it is - it's some of the people who show up. For the most part, there are really good, sound-minded folks who are at the meetings. But it just takes one not so sound-minded person to show up that ruins it.

Example: Two prominent members of my area group have the disturbing habit of picking their noses. This is done throughout the meeting with no regard for anyone else.

Since there is the tradition of letting in anyone who thinks they need to be there, it's been a lost cause to broach the subject. In fact, once I asked someone else for suggestions on what we could, gently, do to approach this one person. I was thinking of maybe leaving an anonymous note on her car or something. I was stunned when that was met with,'well, that's just her disease and we need to accept people as they are.' What? Other than being disgusting to watch, it spreads germs. I don't even want to participate in handling the materials being passed around for reading out loud.

It's too much for me, and like I said above, there are two members who do this. Also, they are both involved in the business and decision making aspect of things.

I now go to a meeting that is 45 minutes away. It's better but the drive is not always feasible, so I don't always go. It's a shame because I've personally had much success.

Over 16 years ago I lost over 100 pounds and have kept it off. I'd hadly call that fat.

BTW - If you're going to waste your time making a comment like that, don't you think you could include the " ' " in the word you're. Never mind, you probably don't even know what I'm talking about - you dummy.

BTW - You usually start a sentence with a capital letter.

That's the last word. Even if THRILLADILLA responds (what a corny name, in all caps too - how lame).
