State police at Sidney are continuing to seek information from the public in an ongoing investigation into an alleged rape of a young girl, troopers said Monday. Americo A. Martinucci, aka Tony Martinucci, 64, of Sidney Center, was charged Oct. 18 with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. Martinucci, who owns Tony’s Pizza in Unadilla, allegedly had sex with a child younger than 11 years old in 2003, according to troopers. A felony hearing Oct. 20 determined there was enough evidence to hold the case for grand-jury action, according to Delaware County District Attorney Richard Northrup. Martinucci was released that day on $25,000 bail. Northrup said Monday that a grand jury would review the case "as soon as we can schedule it." Anyone with information is asked to cal

I heard that the child involved told her parents after a lecture at school from a police officer about the importance of not keepnig secrets from parents. I hope it is not true also but I will not buy pizza from there until he is proven innocent. As a parent the idea of patronizing a potential child rapist is repulsive.

I have known tony my whole life and this is not completly unbeleaviable i think what he has done to these poor girls needs some punishment he is sick and i dont beleave in innocent until proven guilty in this case. i think anyone who feels sorry for him should think about it could have been your child and then you would fell the way these girls parents do so until then dont pass judgement. he may not be convicted yet but he will be.

I was wondering if the restaurants are open and who is operating them?I've since had more info that seems he is guilty.I heard there were as many as 11 children(girls). Also that they have video tapes he took of the acts.I suppose they are waiting for the Grand Jury?Very sad for me to hear.

I live in Unadilla and most of the village is in a state of shock at what has happened. It is "rumored" that the Pizzaria (which is open & being operated by Tony's daughter & wife) is now part of a recently formed corporation that was formed after the other pizzaria was sold in Franklin. I too have heard of the tapes in evidence. It is also "rumored" that he was seen going to a local doctor's office wearing an ankle bracelet. Updated news is few & far between, and there hasn't been anything in the papar lately. I too used to go for pizza, sometimes twice a week - but no more. I won't pay for a pizza that may be paying for his defense.

I, too, am a local resident, and with all of the evidence against him I cannot believe he is out on the street with only $25,000 bail and an ankle bracelet. If there had been only a shread of evidence against him,he should have been locked up until trial. Whats wrong with our legal system? The safety of our children should have been a primary concern. His defense will not be paid for by my family purchasing pizza there anymore.

I would think he is a flight risk, and you are right he should be behind bars.I wonder how concerned the children and their parents are for their safety?I believe he is a hunter and gun enthusiast, sure is a scary scenario!Hope all you folks keep us posted on updates?

I've been after the so-called Editors of the Daily Star to run this story, and they've stonewalled me.
Someone's on the take at the Star. I also floated the story past the Bingo Press/Sun and got no answer.
It's the press' job in a free society to report scumbags and their effect on the community.
The Oneonta Scar is either on the take or just flat incompetant, or both.
I too know the accused, and stories about him have been around Unadilla for years. There's one nasty incident 10 years back about a cat being nailed to a boad that stopped me from patronizing the pizza joint.

I have heard thru the rumor mill (which means that I cannot substantiate the info) that a large number of unregistered guns were taken from his home. I also understand that all of his computers & equipment were also taken as eveidence. I agree that the local newspapers all the way around are not following the story or writing any more than they have too. We are pretty starved for updates here in the area!

There's a lot more to this than meets the eye:
Money laundering, New York goombahs, bigtime Fed charges.
Stay tuned.

I have spoken with one tenant, and of course there is a lot of worry about the propery being seized and if any of the criminal activity has resulted in profit for the business and/or the building ownership. It is will be very sad for Unadilla to lose any more of its businesses. And even worse will be if this all spills over onto even more innocent people who just happen to be caught up in it all!

There's a grand jury convened at the moment considering the evidence that will lead to further charges. DA Northup's office is being tight lipped about the case, and Fed's are definitely investigating. The day the arrest occurred, the entire staff of the restaurant quit, and the wife is trying to run the place by herself. Not known if other help has been hired. The pizzeria had been frequented at lunchtime by NYSP uniformed and detectives, due to it's proximity to the Interstate and Troop C, and I'm sure the boys in Grey will lend their own brand of investigative insight into the case. Will keep this board apprised of any developments in the grand jury indictment, if and when it occurs.

I know that some of the staff did quit that WEdnesday he was arrested - the main pizza chef did. But a couple others did stay behind. We went back in twice until we found out that he was out & with his wife. Now we don't & won't go. The waitress said they had been given strict orders not to talk about any of it. Last Saturday night at 7:30 the place was empty. It is an overall shame that the whole village suffers because of it all - and worst to suffer are the children and their families. Our thoughts & prayers go out to them. I will stay tuned to this blog and post what I know!

Would be a perfect opportunity for an enterpriser to open a drive-through and sitdown pizzeria in the old surveyor's office. It has parking, centrally located, and already has restaurant equipment in place. All you'll need is a license and a pizza oven.
Fill the void.
Extra cheese and pepperoni, please.

I used to work for Tony for a couple of years. this doesn't surprise me at all. I believe the reason he got out so easily is beause he was friends with all the state troopers and many other important people. He is one of the biggest bullshit artists I know. He should get the maximum sentence for his crime, and we can only hope that bubba turns him out real good. My prayers are with the children and there families. I also pray for his wife Connie. She is a sweet lady that has suffered for many years at the hands of this animal. Tony has disgraced his family and every person that he has ever befriended.
