Don't ever forget that America is great because immigrants, while retaining pride in ethnic origins, realized ultimately that their identity as an AMERICAN was paramount and that the cultural ties of the past only hindered assimilation. Again, not to imply that pride of cultural origin is mis-placed, only to point out that the notion of Americanism trancends tribal affiliation.

I disagree with the world "paramount" but a certain amount of assimilation should be required by ANYONE who lives/visits a country that is "foreign" to their birthplace.
