I believe being a police officer is a lot of sacrifice ! I don't know who would be the best but I believe they need more thank yous from people that they protect. We take a lot of things for granted, but imagine a life without law and order. I will say it for the community--thank you. When needed perhaps maybe 3 times within my life of 50 years,(car broke down, break-in-at our home, catching the burglars) they have been there and HELPED. Most people that live a ordinary life (their choosing without drama) would also agree.

I use to hate LEO's with a passion, but God has a way of changing those outlooks.

I finally figured out the reason I was a hating them, because I had broken the law and was running from them. So it dawned on me that I should quit breaking the law then I would not have to hate these folk anymore for messing with me.

It takes some of us a little longer to figure some things out you know.

As far as who is the best? They are all doing a good job as far as I can tell. Damn fine bunch as far as I can see.

They are all doing a great job and I believe we have Chief Nunley to thank for that. He has really turned the PD around.The department has more respect now than it ever as, although more people could show a little more respect to each of them. Turner and Shumate are great officers and were even thru all the department as been thru, they stuck with it thru all the bad things when they could have walked away like a few of the others did, that in its self shows they are committed to their positions. Chief Nunley made a wise choice when he hired Dowell! Taylor is doing good himself to have not had any law enforcement training in the past. If Newman gets the posistion with the marshalls hopefully Chief Nunley will become Sheriff this fall and turn the Sheriffs office around just as he has done for the town of Damascus. Congradulations Chief Nunley on the outstanding job you have done and keep doing every day. I among alot of others will be keeping our fingers crossed and a prayer in our hearts that you do run for and become our next Sheriff.

Truthfully I hope Nunley does not run for that position. He is doing a good job here and we need his to stay here to put the finishing touches on the job. Then when the next election rolls around he will have a better leg to stand on if he wants that position.

well littlemiss I guess you're one of the ones that loves drama in your life and have had some experiences with the police not to your liking. As I said before the ones that aren't looking for drama nor choose it normally have no issues with the police.

Neither dear, lol just a satisfied resident that doesn't bother about someone's personal life --I care about what they provide for the citizens of this town and I like the feeling of safety that is provided whether people like our police officers or not. That is a personal choice that people make and I have stated mine.

Seems little miss know it all has had run-in's with The Chief, Lt, and Shumate if she feels that way about them. What has Dowell and Taylor not caught you yet? And just because we appreciate our Officers in Damascus doesn't mean we are their wives or misstress. I high doubt their wives read this crap and see how some people drag their husbands and family's thru the mud. As for their misstress'..... do you have proof they have one? I doubt it! You just have to much time on your hands to sit around and make accusations about stuff you no NOTHING about.

Tow you are right, Bill has done an awesome job in Damascus and more needs to be completed there. But think of the change the whole county could have if he were Sheriff,be it now or in 2 years that man has my vote for sure. With the respect he has from the town counsel i'd about bet if he does become Sheriff he would have an big impact of who gets the Chief's postion here.
