Click on the article and it gives you all the info. Their names are Heaton. I think this is great for our town. It states it's a bit like the Mast General Store over in Boone ---It is great to have a new place to shop in Damascus. Good luck to this new business.

Well I went today and I have to say the store is very nice. It does need more inventory, but they are just starting out. Good items that are in there, lots of soda to choose from and the BBQ looked great. I wonder what you classify as bad part of town. We don't live in Chicago or NY where there's slums or gangs. Can you guys not see the good in anything. I certainly wish them great success and with their music on the weekends that should bring in people. There were plenty of lookers when I was there, hopefully those lookers turn into buyers.

This story fails to mention that Jeremiah Heaton is an Independent canditate for Virginia's 9th district in the US House of Reps. He's running against Rick Boucher like there is a snow ball's chance there. While he calls himself independent he might as well call himself republican. Take a look at his website www.heatonforcongress.com and see for yourself. He writes about being a middle class individual so that people of this area will "think" he is down on their level. Is he too stupid to know that people around here are not middle class? They are called working poor, not middle class!

Personally, I wish them the best with their success, Nothing wrong with taking the chance to be successful!! Good Luck.
Has anyone thought about the next Trail Days Festival?? The General Store will be in the perfect place to cater to the hikers!!
For some reason, I would bet the Heaton's have taken that into consideration, so it might not be in a "bad part of town".

Dumbass, you will go to Shonwys, or Cracker Barrel or Golden Corral and pay $1.99 for a drink, and never say a word. Next time, cheap ass ask for WATER.

In regards to Mr. Heaton running against Boucher does that not tell you he has a head on his shoulder and will work hard to make another good business in our little town. I did not realize he was the same person, thank you for the info. In regards to the $ on the soda, just drop by there and see all the selection. I bet you buy one before you leave the store--it's an incredible selection to choose from. The chocolate I had yesterday was GREAT.

Do you think Boucher cares about the working class poor. Not a chance. Anybody that would support the cap and trade bill cares not a thing for the working poor. If Heaton is going to run against Boucher I say more power to him. It is time for a change in the 9th district.

do you think Heaton is in touch with the working poor? he paid $70,000.00 for the hosiery mill according to tax records, it sat empty for 3 years generating no income while he spent what had to be a fortune renovating the interior according to my opinion of seeing it.
Heaton knows nothing about the working poor, his family does not live paycheck to paycheck. His website speaks of supporting the middle class which is divided into 2 divisions, Upper Middle Class are those who "earn well in excess of $100,000.00 annualy" and Lower Middle Class are those who "earn at least $60,000.00 but not more than $99,000.00 annualy".

boucher lives from our paycheck to paycheck instead of going to serve he went to welch off of taxpayers. any one who thinks it is ok for taxpayers to murder with tax dollars is sick in the head. no middle class person can afford to run for office.

Well said. It's time for Mr. Boucher to be replaced. Too bad an average Joe can't afford to run.

Never say never. Boucher can be replaced. Don't be such a pessimist. I'll use a quote from one of my fave. movies "It could happen."

Looking forward to visitiing the store. Maybe while I'm there I'll let the owner know he can count on my vote if he runs against Mr. B.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
