Need good food!

Does anyone local eat at the apple tree restaurant? Stopped there and got there fish dinner paid $7.99 to go last week.Small portion size,poor quality food at high price.Will not eat there again.Tried them year's ago same problem.

I have eat there awhile back and it was high for no more than you got on your plate....If you are wanting to try somewhere else to eat me and my family went to Atkins Tank Restuarant last week and they have excellent food and you get your moneys worth it is off of exit 50 near arnolds exxon.. Just wanted to let you know...

Ill try them next time,not many good place's to eat around here.I liked the mountainside restaurant in chilhowie before they closed.

Atkins Tank is very good. The chief cook worked for years at the Riverfront in Chilhowie (excellent). Also, Country Kitchen in downtown Rural Retreat is good as is the Back in Time Restaurant just past the crossroads on Rt 11 in Rural Retreat (lot of good food for a little money).

New chinese and new japanese restaurants soon to open in Marion, and Riverfront is just about ready to move to their new location in Chilhowie.

I agree with the other posts on the Atkins Tank. VERY good food, good service, and the place is spotless!

Good food at the Country Kitchen in Rural Retreat also, they stay busy, but tend to be understaffed. Last time I ate there, I waited about 45 minutes on a burger, and couldn't get a refill on my drink.(Waitress never checked back with me after my food was brought to the table)... But the food was good.

If you like wings, try Macado`s on Modays from 4PM-close. Thye have them for 29 cents a piece. Sometimes the service is very slow but the wings are great.

Try The Barn at Groseclose The hamburgers are huge and you get a large amount of fries the food is yum yum.

Also some of the best food I have eaten is at Casey`s Diner in the Thomas Bridge area.

Atkins Tank is a good place to eat the food is more than you can eat and most of the time you get GREAT service so you might wanna give it a try and see how you like it ..... And the place in rural retreat that is mentioned above is also a good place to eat .. I havent eat at the barn so i cannot tell you anything much about it but i guess it is worth a try... Hope this helps

Just wanted to let everyone know that Atkins Tank is a good place to eat ....They are going to be open on Thanksgiving Day from 7-11 for anyone who wants to come by and eat breakfast...

Try the Lasagna at the Atkins Tank, it's fantastic! Or an order of Bacon Ranch Cheese Fries, but just order one serving of the fries, it's enough to feed two.

If you go to Atkins Tank to eat and Rhonda is working in the kitchen your food will be off the chart and she gets the orders out and you do not have to wait any length of time. I went there one day last week and she was kind enough to fix me breakfast so i would highly recommend going and giving it a try......

Casey's Diner in real good! They are not too high either. They are out at Thomas Bridge. Love em!

Most restaurants as well as any other business in Marion continue to treat you like as I would call the "invisible customer".I walked in Francis Brothers the other day and could not find what I was looking for and no one asked if they could help, not even the owner,but that's typical for most stores in Marion. They just don't know how to treat the customer.No wonder people go out of town. Smokey Joes is awful for the overpriced menu. Barkers store is really good and they appreciate their customers.

When is the town of Marion going to pave the road by the Marathon store (beside the police station)? They have ripped it up twice this summer and halfway patched it afterwards. It doesn't look good when you drive into Marion on Main street and it looks like 10 miles of bombed out runway!!!but secondary roads with less traffic gets paved?

Sorry you had a bad shopping experience at Francis Bros., but I gotta say they have always been more than helpful to me.
I'm just an average homeowner who goes there when something is broke, not a regular customer or someone they know. I usually just wait at the counter til it's my turn, tell them what I need , and they take me right to it, explain the differences in products, offer installation instructions... I couldn't ask for better service.

I'll agree with ya on Barkers, though! Great food!

The town is replacing a broken main line along South Main - that's why it's been dug up so many times. Construction will take a good couple of months, depending on the weather. The town will repave it when the work is complete.

I hate to drive on it too, but there's no other way to get to the line.

And I'm sorry, too, that birddog had a bad experience shopping in town. Catbird has the plan - just wait at the counter and one of the folks will take you in turn and take care of you. Give 'em another try!
