I do give him respect for what he has accomplished, but wouldn't FF1 be a more appropriate certification?

I think the Department has come a long way. The guys seem like they are doing a good job and trying hard.

As a member of the Fire Dept. I thank you for saying nice things about our Dept. As to Scottie and FF1 yes he has it. I think the FD has come a long way from what they used to be, and we are trying very hard to improve in any way needed. If some of the people that post on here knew some of the obstacles that we have to over come every time we want to change anything, how hard it is to get anyone to agree with us or to just let us do our job, then maybe you would not be so quick to put us down. It is not as easy as you might think, we have to fight for everything we get. Thats why it is so nice to hear someone say something nice about us since most of the time it is nothing but complaints. I know how hard it was for Scottie to get his EMT, since I am one of the EMT'S on the Fire Department also. There would be a lot more firefighters at the station that had FF1 if the state would set up the classes, so don't blame us. You can not get trained for something if the classes are not available.

i think all volunteer fire companies and ems crews deserve much more than they get. One thing people forget is the word "volunteer", with this said it takes a great deal of time, energy, money to provide services and NOT get paid. Volunteers especially today are hard to come by, and deserve a thanks often. Communities will never know how lucky they are to have a volunteer crew and fire department ready to serve.
