This has to be the medical center staff with all the negative post. They are the must unhappiest enployees ever! It has changed so much around there. They don't care about the patients they're just there for the dollar. That place is falling apart! Nobody knows anything around there and the nurses don't care. The building is dirty. I can't believe how much this place has changed I use to love the medical center now I'm Leary of it. Yes people act like you can't do your jobs! Because you act like you don't know and don't care.
I couldn't of said it better myself. It has changed a lot. Lazy doc and nurses and staff. They need to be inspected!

Ok there Re many views here. And I for one agree with what I said earlier. Yes nurses and doctors are here to heal us but everytime I have been hospitalized i am aleays asked if I need a drink or a snack. Also when ever they come in nurses amd techs always bring ice for watef so yes you are a servant to people yes spme people take advantage but others that are helpless need your assistance and that's what you are for. When a patient is lying in a hospital bed amd can't get up you are there to aide them. And if you don't like waiting on them then the stupid snack station should be were family members can access it so yall can have more computer time instead of interacting with patiwnts
The snack areas used to be open until family members would clean out the refrig and take a 6 pack of drinks! So that is why they are locked up. Also family members give patients food and drink when they are sometimes restricted.

As a former nurses aide I understand the computer time they are speaking of. They are logging everything that happens to each patient. Stupid stuff such as Bowel movements have to be recorded. Why? Because of all the medications and side effects they have.
nurses want you to feel better soon so you can go home and free up a bed for another person waiting to fill it. The last thing they need to deal with is your bratty children running under foot. Or your relatives barking orders so they can have items themselves such as food, water, sodas, tv remotes and magazines. THEY ARE NURSES NOT WAITRESSES OR BUTLERS!!! They must prepare medicines to be ready every two to four hours, wipe up vomit, and feces. Change bedding and deal with death.
Is it so hard for them to ask, leave the kids at home they harbor more germs because they do not understand proper hand washing habits. If your child is sick you shouldn't bring the other 7 with you to the ER! ERs harbor all kinda of germs too, so if your child isn't sick more than likely he will be.
If you are taking any kind of illegal drugs the Nursing staff could care less you just popped 14 viccoden and washed it down with a bottle of dad's illegal moonshine and also shot up 57ccs of meth! They do care that you tell them so they will notify the doctor so he will not give you more pain killers to put you into a dirt nap!
If you are pregnant or if you are a sexually active teenager and you had unprotected sex and you are too darn Chicken to tell your parents tell them anyway when your parent steps out of the room while you get examined. They will don't care if your parents don't know. They just don't want to potentially kill your unborn child because of treatment prescribed to you.
They are there to insure you are comfortable and you are getting the PROPER MEDICAL attention you require.
AS A PATIENT
Really the last thing I need while I am getting some body part sewn back on or I am waiting on an X-ray or a flu test to come back is to hear your arguments with your spouse, mom, dad, baby daddy or police officer.
I really don't feel like playing peek a boo with your brat who keeps encroaching in my little space of don't mess with me and really I am going to hurl!
I don't want to hear about everything coming from what ever oraficce or your current sexually transmitted disease.
No I really don't want to hear your cell phone conversation with Snooki and Bubba!
For the love of all that is Holy can you please refrain from having sexual intercourse on the gurney next door?
And last but not least take your gang banging bro's down to the alley behind the hospital before you mix it up? Seriously the last thing we need is you shooting up the place where your dumb butt will get help on the altercation. Take that crap back to where ever you started. Better yet go find a empty dumpster and knock yourself out so all we have to do is dump your sorry self into a landfill.
You all are really a piece of work. Stop treating these nurses like this. If it wasn't for them you would not get better faster.
Really!!!
Oh and if anyone wants to snap back some catty answer go ahead... I will be sure to lace that next shot in your hip with a little more rubbing alcohol and I will also accidently be a bit slower with that iced cold bed pan! Oh and we are a little behind on laundry you may have to wear your vomit coated gown a little longer while I log into FB and update my status to "you won't believe who just came in to the ER with a gerbil stuck up their rectum!"

HUG A NURSE better yet buy them dinner!

Oh this was too funny.
I was a patient one time and I swear the nurses were so apologetic for the drunk shouting and cussing them. He knocked over some table while they were trying to restrain him. Stuff came flying over to my area, the nurse trying to calm him down stepped into my area and calmly apologized. Security struggled with him then suddenly he got real quiet and the nurse shouts he's going to hurl! everyone cleared the area he threw up and they were back to wrestling him again. They finally get him subdued. The nurse comes back asks if I am okay. She was covered in his sick. I think she went and changed because I was seen by a doctor and moved to another place. She just kept apologizing for the drunk idiot next to me. It was almost entertaining. Had I not sliced my hand open I would have missed it. I kept looking to see if I was on some candid camera or something
Dang that is too funny, I spilt my coffee on my clean shirt. I gotta go change.
BTW who was the gerbil stuck patient? One of BGs finest?

I have read a bunch of these post and frankly I am embarrassed to be associated with the so called nurses that are bitching about a job that is suppose to be about the people we treat. I have been working in a hospital (yes in this town) for 20+ years and I treat my patients the same as I did 20+ years ago. I committed myself to a profession that helps people and that's what I do. I treat everyone the same no matter what their background or social status is. I went into this profession to help people and if I walk into a patients room and there are 15 people in there I will ask everyone of them if they need anything, because treating the family with respect is the same as treating the
Person laying in that bed with respect. My computer work or breaks or whatever is not as important as the person laying in that bed is. So all of you so called "healthcare professionals" need to back up and remember why you went into this profession in the first place. If it's for money or glory you are really in the wrong profession and should probably rethink your career choice. Maybe it's time for you to change jobs or change careers. I truly love my job and the people I help give me a great feeling and since of purpose. Here's a little thought you should really remember "the people you treat today could be the people you need tomorrow"

U sound very unprofessional. I can't believe u don't want the patient or family members to make request because it takes up ur computer time. U r not just treating the patient but ur treating the family. So do ur computer time when u find the time. It's one thing to think it but another to say it. Just unprofessional and tacky!
What she is saying is that the patient needs rest. When you call during late hours you wake them. A nurse MUST document everything if she doesn't should you sue her or the hospital if she didn't document it then in court she didn't do it so keep the kids at home phone calls during normal hrs. and let her
do her job!

I know what she's saying. After 20 some years I know the procedure, but you can also treat family members a little better. They are worried and have a lot on their minds to. Just remember that the family are putting their love ones in our hands and if we ignore or treat them like they're not welcome it makes a very bad impression and/or situation. Just explain to them about the situation and what their family member needs to heal. Most people respond better to someone that makes them feel better not someone that makes them feel stupid. Just because there are a few letters behind our names doesn't mean we're better and face it they can help us out with a lot more information about their loved one then we can sometimes get ourselves. Always remember you might be in their shoes one day and would hate to be treated with the disrespect that it sounds like you have dished out over your career.

Also just remember one thing. ALWAYS TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED YOURSELF.
