Just wondering how the mines are doing down in that part of the country. Live in Virginia, looking pretty grim here. Several big companies are either idle for a few weeks or talking about laying off.

JUST SEEN YOUR QUESTION IT IS IN A SMALL TOWN IN BROOKWOOD AL.MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN EMPLOYED WITH THE COMPANY FOR 24 YEARS,WHICH CHANGED ITS NAME RECENTLY TO-WALTER ENERGY CO. INC.HE IS A SECTION FOREMAN,IT IS A GREAT COMPANY WITH GOOD PAY PLUS EXCEL.BENEFITS THE KICKER IS UNION MINERS ARE MANDATORY 6 DAYS,AND BOSSES SOMETIMES GET 2 DAYS A WEEK OFF BUT THEY PUT IN 70 TO 80 HOURS A WEEK,THOSE MEN DESERVE A WEEKEND OFF A MONTH.BROOKWOOD AL IS APPROX 30 MILES WEST OF BIRMINGHAM THEY HAVE ONE RED LIGHT IN THE CENTER OF TOWN.

WHO THINKS THAT WALTER ENERGY CO. INC(FORMERLY JIM WALTER RESOURCES)ARE OVER WORKING OUR MINERS THEY NEED AT LEAST ONE WEEKEND OFF A MONTH!
