The Bally's Fitness Center at Preston and Beltline is one of the centers taken over by Blast Fitness. Has anyone noticed the decline in the quality of that operation? I went in on Thursday evening ( first time in 3 months ) and was surprised at the number of inoperable devices. It did not appear that most of the equipment had received a recent cleaning. I used a hand sanitizer cloth to wipe down the equipment before I used it, and the cloth turned dark from the single swipe. An employee told me not to use chemical wipes on the equipment. I looked around and very few members were using towels to wipe down equipment after using it. I counted 3 people wearing street clothes and shoes. I like to hit 5-6 machines during a workout, but it was not uncommon to have to wait because members remained sitting on the equipment "resting" between sets. Some even used that time to make cell phone calls. Just out of curiosity I checked the mens locker room. The toilet and urinal area was disgusting and there was what appeared to be a used adult diaper on the floor. The shower area was slightly better but I think the appearance of being cleaner is due to frequent showers rather than cleaning by the staff. Speaking of staff, where were they? Well, apparently they prop themselves up behind the front desk and stay there rather than monitor the use of the equipment and conditions within the center. This place definitely needs new management.

YES! It really is disgusting. Blast stopped enforcing any rules when they took over. I complained twice about people not wiping down the equipment and the man at the front counter just rolled his eyes at me. The worst thing are these men that just sit on equipment and leer at women. Go check out LA Fitness.
