Hello!
I'm a high school senior from Washington DC. I have this thing called a "senior project" which a senior has to pick a topic to research on for a whole year. I've picked the case of Ed Gein, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I would like to know a bit more about this history and what has it infulenced this town in a way.

Thnak you for listening.

There are many interesting facts about this guy. Unfortunately, I live very near Plainfield, WI. My father actually knew him, but was not fond of him. My father told me he was very creepy. He would just show up at the house. My father said that his mother did not like him either and would pretend not to be home when he came around. He did a lot of babysitting for people in the area.

im from plainfield and my dads uncle was a cop at the time and he was helping with the investigation. just to let you know the the movies you watch today are kind of fake. ed was at handyman, going around town to help people. he was always kind of to hims self and eveyone though he was creepy, but no one thought he would do anything. according to my grandma, when ed was caught some how his house started on fire, when the firefighter arrived he they took their time, leting the house burn. after the house burned down they made sure that everything was buried and distoryed. there was nothin left of his property. that all i can give you right now hope it helps

I've been told, a local cop in Adams, WI was the one who arrested Ed Gein. Ed Gein was put in a Mental Hospital in Madison, WI (Mendota, I think) where he died. The movie "PSYCHO" was made after his life, not "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." It is also said, that he is burried in an "unmarked" grave right next to his mother in Plainfield, WI.

I was told this story by the guy who's land is on the same block as Ed Gein was so his and Ed's came together. He told me that just after Ed was arrested he brought the property next to his. The land was very wooded and he wanted to grow crops, so he and his brother used a old tractor and saws to get rid of the trees. It was very hard work and in the mid of Aug. it was very hot. He said one day while he and his brother was trying to turn the soil with a old plow, what they thought was a stone flipped over onto the new soil. This guy stopped the tractor because right away he could see that it was not a stone but something else. He climbed off his tractor and went over to take a better look. He yelled to his brother and said I found something !! Sure enough it was a skull, he picked it up and as he did he said the air got very still and there was not a sound in the air. He felt kind of creepy all over like someone was watching him from a distance. His brother just stared at it, and then this guy broke the silence when he said. You think it was a adult or a youth, his brother paused for a moment and said I am not sure, but from the looks of the horns my guess would be it was a pretty big buck...

It's interesting to see older photos of Ed Gein, his appearance changed a lot when he was in the mental hospital even for a few years. He must have enjoyed the food, electricity, entertainments, and hot showers! I can't imagine living in that house, being so cold and messy, no electricity, little heat from a wood stove, no hot water, or TV. He was really starving too, I guess he lived on pork and beans in a can.
