Jay Leno's Garage: Via Motor's 100 mpg full sized pick up truck.

At 1:20, Jay Leno states that he has a Volt and that he has driven it 18,000 miles and used only 12 gallons of gas.

He purchased the car in early 2011. This video was published in July, 2012.

To put 18,000 miles on a Volt, in 18 months, and only use 12 gallons of gas, you are driving short trips. Like to work and back. That is called a DAILY DRIVER.

Volts are good if you only travel ten miles away from your home. But some people out there have a life.

I once met a "man" from Des Plaines,
Who's parents declared him insane.

They said he was crazy,
But I think he's lazy.

There is no need to explain.

At that rate the Volt will pay for itself in about 25 years.

Didn't you understand what you wrote? For once you're right. I will make up the difference between my car and a $25,000 Accord in 5 years.

But, it will pay for itself eventually. Good call.

No car other than an electrics will do that for you. At least you told the truth there, a little wrong on the time frame, but good to hear the truth from a hater.

My cost is already under $30,000.

Well ... looks like I'm going to have to buy a couple of gallons of gas soon. Darn!!!!!

The Scientist in the straight jacket buys gas twice a week. Whooooo ... I just fell off my chair laughing.

Now Des Plaines is a man with a mission,
Cuz he thinks he is a technician.

He can't even spell,
Cuz he did not excel.

In school ... he had no ambition.

Des Plaines despises big oil,
To electrics he remains oh, so loyal.

But he drives a Ford Fairlane,
Who's tank he must maintain.

With gas that comes from the soil.

Don't get me wrong, I like Des Plaines,
His rantings are very funny.

He wants an S, a Tesla S,
But he doesn't have the money.

He's going to save for 20 years,
To buy a 10 year old car.

But nothing will ever change the fact,
That he won't be going far.

In another thread, Undercover Spy, aka Des Plaines wrote: "I seen you leaving your garage in the morning. You drive a yugo from years gone by.We all got your number pal.Its over,The gigs up.You dont own jack crap buddy".

My response:

I made this video for Des Plaines,
Who really is going insane.

His postings are brainless
His mind set is aimless.

And he still drives an ugly Fairlane.

Did you notice that I had a range of 42 miles on the battery. The day before was 52 degrees. Not really cold, but definitely not spring or summer. I get 47 - 49 miles daily in summer.

In case you didn't know, and I know you don't, the miles on the battery charge display are a reflection of prior driving. Not a promise of future driving miles. Another thing you didn't know about electrics. All this knowledge you have for when you buy your Tesla S. And you have me to thank.

OK dude. Glad you liked the video. Keep that Fairlane full.
