You know, you 'young people' don't know jack-squat about life. You are in for a rude awakening. It's very easy to look at other people and judge. It's a different story when life happens to YOU. Did you not even read the article? It stated he had never lived like a King, and that he had a modest home. Doesn't sound like to me he made much money to fritter away or invest in the stock market. Just because you work for the 'government'(especially a city government) doesn't automatically make you a Rockefeller. He probably lived his life like most people do - by doing the best we can with what we have. But thank goodness we've always got young people like YOU to tell us how to do things RIGHT. How lucky we are to have someone who has hardly even BEGUN to live to tell all us old 'fogies' that we actually need to SAVE our money for when we retire! Wow! What an original idea!!! Wish I had thought of that!! Life can be alot harder than you know sometimes. But I imagine that somewhere along the way, you'll find that out. Then I hope you remember those times that you criticized others for not 'measuring up' to YOUR standards. |

FYI- Whatever you do,
work at it with all your heart, as you are working for a "higher power" not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from our "Higher Power" as a reward. It is the man above you are serving. -Think positive alway as everything happens for reason. Johna Miller |

Same thing happen to me in April 2007. I was forced to take a early retirement from Grady. My position was eliminated so I had no choice but to retire after 35 years. You will make it Eugene, some way or another. But it is always the workers who suffer from so called upper management getting their high paid salary. Let them try and live on a SMALL PENSION. They will not make it.

Are you kidding me??? The guy gets injured, ends up with 6 screws and 2 steel rods in his back - and you think he's trying to get a free ride????? So I suppose if someone plows into you with their car, and you wind up in a hospital bed with rods and screws in your back, with a permanent back injury, that you wouldn't sue for compensation for your injuries? Nah, not you - you'd just say "that's ok - no harm, no foul - it doesn't matter that I'll be laid up for months and months without a paycheck, with bills to pay - I don't want a 'free ride'." You either just don't understand, or you have got to be one of the most idiotic dolts around. |

If he's worked for the city for 35 years and if he's truly disabled he'll end up with his pension or disability. Heck, being a city employee from that long ago he may not even be in Social Security which will put him ahead of most people.

(By the way I live in GA not Il as blog put earlier)
No one answered question, is there a way to get hold of this man or the repoeter, i would like to donate anonymously to make sure the dog is okay, thanks |

Good for you! you give it to him. I agree. and I will pray for Eugene as well. |

if he was on workers comp (disability) then social security should allow for him to be qualified as disabled. He should re file for disability, get a good attorney and sue the pants off the city. This makes a good case of the city bringing him back to fire him and he will win in court.

The dog will be just fine, it knows how to go out and find food in the back alleys... |

Some people have more than enough money for their futures, but can still have compassion for those who don't, due to whatever circumstances may arise. Sleep well while you can, because no matter who you are, and no matter what it is you love - wealth, health, your spouse, your children - it can all be taken away from you in a heartbeat. Then we'll see how many excuses YOU come up with. |

very well spoken.God bless |

No it can't. It is pathetic you want to see other people demise to prove your point...so typical. |
|
Well, you sound very mean. Reap what you sow, you better always remember that. |
|
What's the matter? That mirror doesn't show such a pretty reflection, does it? You can try to spin it and place the blame on others, but you're still the one lacking. I wouldn't even want to see YOU go through what this poor man has to deal with. |
|
And exactly how much money can a maintenance man save per month? Five bucks, maybe. It's not like he was making 90K while being a city janitor. |
|
Yeah, right - I'm sure they kept him on the job for 35 years because he wasn't qualified. In Georgia you can fire anyone, anytime, and not even be required to give them a reason. If he wasn't doing his job, I'm sure that sometime within that 35 year period they would have let him go. |
