laugh at their desperation

think running is an activity, not a sport

ignore their pretentiousness

predict a heart attack waiting to happen

find it to be an annoying cliche'

pull in front of them and then slam on my brakes

I have a 13.1 and a 26.2 sticker on my car. My marathon is by far the biggest achievement of my life. It is something I never thought I could do, but I did it anyways. The sticker isn't on my car to brag about my achievement. It is on there because I am proud of myself. Only a handful of people can say they have run a full marathon. It sounds like you are all just jealous of the people who can run that far. Why is it such a big deal? There are more important issues in this world than what kind of stickers people put on their car.
Who cares that you ran a full marathon. Obviously you are looking for approval. Why would anyone be jealous of a bunch of shriveled-up, weird people who are begging for a heart attack?

Complete waste of time. It's nice that you are proud of yourself. You have every right to put a sticker on your car and boast of your "achievement." The rest of the world has the right to think it's stupid.

Since when is it a "personal triumph" to go to a vacation on Hilton Head or Destin, FL? That is a triumph that we have to 'celebrate' with a sticker on our vehicle? And, is it really a "personal triumph" to do a 5K, 13.1 or 26.2 when everyone and their mother does the same thing? It's not sour grapes at all. I took two vacations this year, and I don't see the need to put a sticker on my car to let people know where I vacationed! What does that teach our kids? "Look at me! I'm better than you!"
And we wonder why the public schools are such a mess, and there is bullying. It's all a big contest and competition and I'm sick of it.
What about the homeless child? Or, the family on public assistance? Why can't we celebrate their personal triumphs? Shouldn't we give them some stickers to celebrate when they get off of food stamps? I'd much rather see that, than the idiotic HHI stickers on every car in town.
Of course, the people putting all these stickers on their car are just the type to not care about the less fortunate. If they did, they'd probably put a sticker on their car so that everyone would notice that they did something nice for someone else.
It's all just EGO and self-absorption at a monumental level.
Maybe whats wrong with public schools isn't the competition it's the way people get treated. You make a good point about a problem being bullying but how are you any better on here claiming that you shouldn't be proud of your accomplishments. You're practicaly calling them egotistical jerks for it and that is what we're teaching our kids to do.

I'd like to get an oval sticker for my car that says "I rode to Fricano's and ate the WHOLE thing!"

True. The guy making the sticker might be wealthy because of it. However, in a day and age when we're all supposed to not judge each other, and accept each other, etc., why then are we also prodded to boast about ourselves and how awesome we are? I'm going to start putting my kids grade point averages on my car. I am quite sure that they are higher than most kids. So, I'll just put 3.977 of 4.0 on a sticker, and put it in my window next to my HHI sticker for where I go on beach vacations, and my 26.2 marathon sticker. What's next? "100K" to show off your income?
You just boasted about your kids GPA on the internet which means it's there forever. Hypocrite.

I would rather see the oval sticker than a fish on a bumper.

Oh! Are you a vegetarian or just prejudiced against animals without legs?
