I dont have a problem with junk food tax. It would probably help me cut down on the amount of crap that I eat.

Just think, when you become an adult, you'll be able to make decisions for yourself.

And when I become an adult, I can recognize others who are stealing money from me because they are drug addicts and I can do something about it, smartass.

Thankfully I've been smoke free for over 10 weeks now. I quit for my own reasons. Anyone trying to quit I recommend Chantix, they recommend 12 weeks I was done with half the dose in three. Its true you mentally have to be ready to quit I tried in the past with the patch, nicorette, and hynosis with no luck, I even have a reformed smoker for a husband and his constant guilt trips didn't work, we all now how stupid it is, but anyone who has any addiction can understand how hard it is. I have known too many people killed or severly injured by drunk drivers, how about taxing the alcohol some more, lets go after the drunk drivers as aggressively as the smokers. Now the money I'm saving is going in my tank, so much for buying myself something special.

Please excuse the spelling errors in the above, blame it on the nicotine withdrawals (yikes)

Good to see your contributing to the Middle East's hold on America and not funding something you enjoy. You rule!

Are you just miserable to everyone? How do you get to and from work, groceries, doctors, etc. You're really not even worth a comment. I post something I'm proud of and you act like an idiot.

well the illegal cigarettes will be coming in droves, they will spend more in fighting them than they are taking in.Happens every time any thing gets to high. All ready happening in other places. The way our government is spending money they will raise taxes on some thing else soon. How about fast foods ,cars, coffee, soft drinks, beer, water or any thing else that they deem unhealthy.

Great points by HER. I buy my smokes in NH, and like a few others, have been doing so since I started smoking. But, for most of my smoking years, the closest store was in NH, so, I suppose it's somewhat irrelevant.
I'm more interested in the counter productive ideas.... This looks like it will prompt more people to cross the border. The net losses from them may be pretty significant. I don't know what the cigarette taxes in CT and RI look like, though, where a lot of folks border.... Maybe thewy'll develop a carpool system.$1/pack =$10/carton. You get 5 or 6 people interested, and even with rocketing gas prices, you could make some money for yourself..... This is going to create quite a racket. Nevermind the fact that it looks like popular opion is not in favor of this. Nice going Beacon Hill!! We salute you.

hey - why weinie around with those dib-dab tax hixes - why not grow a pair and make it $50-per-pack??!! That would be about $47 tax per pack. I'm sure that the very same amount of packs will be sold in Mass, and tax revenues would soar to 10-billion on smokes alone!! Its all about the money. Deval-the-dork ought to slam thru gambling, and in the same grow-a-pair attitude, legalize all drugs and prostitution too. Screw the public - its all about the money. And Dems wonder why the whole country see them as responsible as drunken teenagers.
