Everett's not there. Why post this on the Everett Topix?

Some guy named Everett is named in the article. Whatever methodology Topix uses to automatically post articles that may pertain to a particular community could't recognize the difference in this case.

If the Everett schools don't want to lose any more students to the Charter schools, they better improve the system. More kids are going to Charter schools to get the education they deserve free of charge! Why go to Everett public schools when you can go to a Charter school and have a real education.

Maybe Pepperell will show up when Quabbin does...Although the leadership of both districts measures success in exactly the reverse of the schools in this article. By NM and Quabbin standards, the closer to the mean you get, the closer you are to Nirvana.

I have my suspicions about charter schools. Why are they better than public ones? What's the difference? If they are better and don't cost anything, why don't more kids attend them?

People are afraid because they are different. They have longer hours. They have already started school. They don't have February vacation. Less child care issues. By the time they graduate high school they are a grade and a half ahead of the public schools who don't go because one snowflake falls on the ground. Longer days means more time in classes learning. They also give detentions for disrespecting others.

Did you actually believe Everett would be in the top 3? Bottom 3 probably.

Here's some recent articles (and follow on comments)on the premise that part of the reason charter schools succeed is that they "cherry pick students". Interesting reading.

What a ridiculous article! There are too many variables to proclaim one school better than another. And to name one that has been closed for two years is just silly.

Wherever there are Chinese and Indian/Pakistani students in large numbers, the schools will look good. Just a fact because parents get on their childrens' a--es to study.

I cannot believe that this is accurate, North Middlesex is so far ahead that they have even decided there is no need for a full-time Super, and have made the position part-time.

And where is Quabbin?, oh that's right, they are so far ahead they only need a part time Super as well.

I guess these other schools have not figuired it out yet that this only needs a part-time position.

all public schools are a joke. i'd never send my kid to one, the education at a private school is so's like 2 different worlds.

Interesting that some of the schools listed are regional schools.

Nice article on the 3 local schools that rated among the best in the Northeast!!

Imagine that!! 3 different public schools from 3 different Greater Lowell-area public-school districts!!

With greedy, veteran union teachers who don't care about kids and only about a paycheck!!

I can hardly believe it.

I wonder what Mr. Campanini and The Sun's editorial board think of that!
