Bail irks parents of alleged victims

“It should have been $50,000 cash considering his prior record.”

William Tibolt is accused of pushing a teenage boy the ground, hitting another boy with a metal baton, and then throwing a third teen to the ground and beating him in the head until the metal weapon broke. via Lowell Sun

Online federal appeals-court rulings and other documents show that Tibolt has spent time in federal prison on drug and money laundering charges.

And we are shocked by this how? Seems like the M.O. of the Massachusetts court system.

This article is a pretty good example of the "presumption of guilt" theory. This guy apparetly spent some time in MINIMUM SECTURITY lockup, and nobody has shown any history of violence. And the cop, who was not even present, reports that there was no provocation. Yes, let's just report the teens' accusations as fact, and convict the guy in the press. And the father's self-confessed "fear" and mentioning his young daughter ... that's sure to inflame things. Is there any reason to believe that the father or his daughters are in any danger?

Possibility: a man was attacked by three youths throwing rocks at him. He fought back. Maybe the father and his daughter would have reason to worry if they were part of a a group throwing rocks at an outnumbered lone victim. If they're not attacking anyone with rocks, they're probably safe.

Or, we could wait for BOTH sides to be heard in court ... a radical idea.

OR we can take the fact that he was sunbathing nude in public into account and come up with the opinion that he's a sketchy scumbag. But hey that's just me.

Regardless of information missing, he walked back to his car, walked back with a metal baton and proceeded to beat the crap out of a teenager. He then beat the crap out of another teenager, to the point where the kid was left unconscious, bleeding and in need of stitches. He did not call the police he did not report the incident. He took matters into his own hands. He is the adult here but he acted like a loony immature child. I don't think this behavior is the most stable Ive heard of. I also don't blame the family for being upset. Its attempted murder right? Shouldn't that be a higher bail than what he got? The boys though they may have been the problem to start with (we don't know), are not the ones charged with attempted murder. This man is. IMHO He shouldn't nor should anyone else who is charged with that be walking the street right now, out on $1500 bail.

thats a disgrace! that guy should not have been let out of jail at all.
he is a danger to young kids.
in the first place he had no right to be nude in public. then attacking those teenagers(minors) was very dangerous!
how dare the justice system let him out on such a low bail. he is a danger to the public.
he needs to be locked away so he cant hurt anyone else. he may kill some ones child because clearly he has screws loose.
unbelievable that they let him loose.

yes i agree here = held without bail until court hearing = quick release by court = not weighing the evidence:

The Lowell Sun, that beacon of Pulizter-deserving pulchritude, stated with a straight face that, "The 16-year-old told police he tossed a couple rocks in the water near the sunbather to warn him they were passing."

Do you think I was born yesterday? If I saw a nude guy on a rock (ew!) I would have thrown rocks at him to freak the freak out, not to warn him of my passing by. If one of these innocent beings had actually hit him with one of these warning shots, it would've been assault with a deadly weapong.

Granted this freak is a nut, but let's not paint the little darlings as angels. Hardly.

If it was such an outrage, why isn't the Commonwealth appealing the bail ruling?
