Why does it take some 15+ years to file charges against this person???

Heck, what about back in 1999 when they banned him from being a couch, why weren't charges filed then either??

I'm pretty sure given the lapse in time, even if he is found guilty of some of the charges the penalties will more than likely be reduced and he would only spend a fraction of time in jail as he would if it happened more recently...

Why is this man still being allowed to coach our children and us not even being aware of it. Shouldnt the gym owners have be up front with us about who was coaching our children? Shouldnt these coaches put our children first before a coach with a horrible background. He was even fired from coaching HS girls. His USAG was revoked almost 8 years agao. Yet he is still in a Gym. He is still with Girls of all ages. How can his gym not be guilty as well?? Stay away from Newington....

I agree, Truthseeker. I know of a coach who went to Olympia looking for a job, not knowing his past, and decided against it because of his innuendo about the girls.

GetReal and ConfusedandHurt, I am wondering if USA Gymnastics reported him at the time. They should have. These girls are now looking back and realizing that this adult stole their adolescence and their trust.

I'd like to see USAG but a little teeth behind their training and certification. There are coaches out there who are good people, who don't deserve to be tarnished by this jerk.

I will pray for all those girls out there that were at the hands of this man. And I pray that the Gym/gyms that allowed this man in with children also pay for there very bad lack of judgemenet for not telling the parenst of this mans past allegations. If we cant trust them to be upfront with us well shame on them for not putting our children first before the $ and this man...

It sounds all too similar to the actions of a creep in Bethel in the late 80's and early 90's. It's so frustrating that they get away with it for so long until the victims get the courage to come forward.

The dirtbag from Bethel was well respected in the community which made the rumors and allegations hard to make anyone believe. He too was heavily involved in young girls sports as a coach and umpire.

If I told you what line of work he was in, it would make you throw up. I know two of the victims very well and take comfort in the fact that one day he will have to answer to a higher power. Although I wish he was answering to **** and Spike everynight in a jail cell for the rest of his life.

There were only 3 of us in 1997 who were originally willing to come forward to expose ourselves upon the realization that what had happened to us was almost certainly happening to someone else... which we now have our confirmation of! However, although the accused coach, Infante was banned from coaching at that time (1998) for unethical behavior as a coach he was not found guilty of having "illegal sex" with a minor if only by the skin of his teeth!

Because the hands of the authorities were tied at this time, the original three complainants decided to tell their story to The Newstimes which appeared in the Sunday sports section on July 26th, 1998 so that others would be made aware of the nature of this coach and make informed decisions regarding their children. Because the current victim was involved with the "accused" at that time, and was not from the Connecticut area, the "accused" managed to keep most of the details of the investigation from her. As for why it would take so long to report... because of the nature and length of the relationships, it is very hard to see things clearly when you are so close to it, but time and maturity shed light on many things! And YES... this adult definitely stole our adolescance and trust and although I understand the difficulty USAG has in . And I have a feeling there are probably others out there who are more recent, but may not have the courage to come forward or feel that they can not make a difference. If you are out there, please look at how he continued to be involved in coaching even after he was banned in 1998 and how much influence he has always had in the lives of the young girls he surrounds himself with. The Middlesex District Attorney will need all the ammunition he can get to put "the accused" out of commission for good. If you want to see how he works just look at the transcripts on the DA's blog at www.middlesexda.com . It makes me sick to know what I do and still see this man coaching, even at "overnight camps.

And yes, he will be innocent until proven guilty by the justice system, but to the victims, he is already guilty by "first hand knowledge"! I have faith that the TRUTH will win out!

Registered Sex offenders - They have been convicted and put in their time and living outside the jails with big time restrictions and wants all kinds of rights well here you go...start here!...

Let's see if they are true to their words and their freedom they have been redeemed...Let's see if all the taxpayer dollars to get them rehabiltated will surface now in the favor of the safety of the public, communities and families.

Dear First Hand:

I heard the news via the Internet and wanted to say that you are very brave to do what you are doing and you should be very proud of yourself.
I grew up in CT and trained at the CT Gymnastics Center from a very young age until 8th grade where the accused was my coach; He was also my high school coach in the late 80s. While I never saw anything directly, there was the occasional rumor.
I was completely floored at what I read in the transcripts and just wanted to write to wish you all the best. I would also hope that anyone with direct knowledge of anything inappropriate would step forward, although I realize that might be difficult.
