NM panel votes to protect Mount Taylor

The cultural and natural resources of New Mexico's Mount Taylor will now be protected by the state, ending a yearlong battle between American Indians and landowners all concerned about preserving their rights to use the mountain without interference.

now this is good but those private land owners are going to make trouble because they are more likely wanting to sell that land to uranium mining companies... they probably don't care for the land, just what it will make them

Sorry to inform you of this.. but you've just been had.

The private landowners are not going to sell, ever. They don't have to. They don't want to, for any amount of money. Contrary to your position, they love the land too much. Been in the families for generations.

There will never be any mining on Mt. Taylor.

The Sierra Club et al just played the pueblos and tribes like a cheap fiddle for their bigger agenda.
And Big Bill Richardson and his hand picked cronies bought into it, hook, line and sinker.

It's been a long time since I have signed in... and ok, I am not sorry, in fact I am glad that the land will be protected. I may be Navajo but I am still against casinos, illegal toxic dumping, mining, etc.
