Shame on TC Grand Traverse County, removing dams

Is Traverse city and Grand Grand Traverse County out of their minds?

Look at the terrible condition of the current water let down behind the dams along the Boardman. Are these poeple nuts?

Also, the hydro-electric power that could (and should) come from those, if operated by real poeple, would be an very fine addition to Light and Power's utility mix. Just they let them go into disrepair for years.

Was there a motive, is there something underlying here? No doubt heavy lobbying by a couple of local people in well healed fishing groups with some sort of odd idea about restoring the river to 160 years ago.
And especially the power companies are behind this. Nothing more than that. They don't want anyone genreating power they can't control. TC Light and Power is a small fish in the DTE, Consumers Energy relm. this was such a fixed commitee from outset. Who's looking into this?

True, the energy would be nice...and true, the water isn't the cleanest.. but has it stopped hundreds of teens from jumping into it every summer?
NOPE. Think of the good effects. A whole new tourist attraction! White water rafting! This could be very good for many people. This water is basically in my backyard. I'm excited for it.

Go for It is obviously dilusional. White water rafting, that's funny. this riover will be and already is damaged from the sudden lets down of the hold back areas and increased velocity of flow scorging the sides and bottom areas of the impoundment areas.

there willb e no hordes of fishermen and bounty of money rolling in naytime soon. AS far as white water raftering.. that is so lame.
the current situation along the river is one of a moonscape, a gravel pit operation gone very bad.

Yes shame on Traverse City and Grand Traverse County for lettting go of a hydro-electric energy source and for perpetrating a fraud on the electorate. To TC Light and Power for their lack of and ability to maintain these dams over the years. There is a deeper rooted cause and effect and lobbying going on here. Shame on you TC.

Along with the "Email the sun" nut jobs of Wheelock and compnay on the county board!

Getting rid of these dams and doiung to the river what has already been done is criminal!

Removing the dams and forever losing the potential for power production is wrong and you know it. The ability to produce electricity locally is priceless.
