Lamesa Texas I'm glad I'm gone !!!!!!!

It is so pitiful and sad that the leadership in my little hometown of Lamesa Texas don't have the common knowledge to create some type of future for the youth of the town. Now the city has to depend on the Texas Prison System for a primary source of income. The solution was simple, after the cotton industry crashed back in the early 90s instead of so called leadership being creative and 1 bringing in green houses to promote continued land usage or placing some type of incentives for other industry to come in and brings jobs and opportunity for the youth or even providing land grants to low income families to entice to stay and help to grow the town. Instead they set around and rested on their high and mighty laurels and let the town go to dust and now the State of Texas has dropped the trash of the prison system in the backyard. Remember this is in a town that it so dignified that they won’t allow the sale of beer or wine within the city limits, and my final question is this why oh why is the city of Lamesa still dry when the county has been wet for close to twenty years. The drive is only ten minutes away to buy liquor ,It seem to me that the city could use some of the tax revenues that are generated from the sale of alcohol instead of arresting small time drug dealers and trying to blow them selves up in the public eye by putting them outrageous bails on them poor folk I wouldn’t be surprised if a tornado come through there and blow them into the land of OZ.

I like Lamesa would of stayed but there was no jobs there to make a life. Miss the good people I grew up with. I did go a long ways. Texas has greatpeople but they need to find ways to keep them there so they can raise their families. Maybe some day industry will come. I live in AZ and it is about the same weather would be great for a senior community and other things..

I am glad I'm out of lamesa because I'm not around durgs and beer, that life is in the past now so if your looking for a house there and have kids watch out because theres a lot of gang members.

I am from Lamesa but have been livin there for about 12 years and i have to say that the only thing i miss is my family,(g-pa & g-ma Parks).

lamesa is what you make it....you want to live the lowlife...that's your choice...want a job....get up and go look for it...i used to drive back and forth to lubbock to work, where there is a will, there is a way. I miss lamesa, sometimes i wish i could go back, but.....

well i married someone from Lubbock, and decided to stay over here but maybe when its time to retire I'll go back...my sister and her family still live there, so i still go every once in awhile...what year did you graduate???

I didn't graduate, I dropped out, and instead of living off of everyone else, I got a job in the oilfield
