I'm sure that tree history is very important to a bankrupt city. Will you people at city hall wrap your minds around the fact that there is no more money to spend on anything except essential services, counting tree rings isn't one.

NO City monies are used in this. If you look and actually read tha article it is Federal Grant monies that are not only paying for this research, but the same monies are paying for this BK City to trim its trees. If not for the work of Ms. Blood it is entirely possible that they tree trimming money would have never been allocated and that burden would have been resting on the city with no money..... I wish people would get all of the facts before spouting off and the mouth.....

so it's federal government money, I guess that means that no one is paying for it. It is all money that is taken from people who work and pay taxes. Counting tree rings is a waste of "TAXPAYER" money get some tree hugger group to pay for it if it is sooooo important

Know what Bob, to a point you're right. But in a time when City and State are floundering in financial problems, and the Feds are still squandering monies on projects like this, between sending out stimulus checks to band-aid a recession, something needs to be said, other than get all the facts. I wonder how many small grants like this are on the books that add up to a lot of money being wasted?

Julie's career is wonderfully unusual and it's a blessing to read about the stories she unearths! I'm amazed at how much she is doing to lift the positive energy of this world!
