Does anyone know of any other AC forum where people actually talk about things going on in AC? When I found this site, I hoped it would be people who go to AC regularly talking about things at the different casinos, restaurants, shops, shows, comp offers, etc. I know there is a board like that for Vegas.

I've seen that this site is mainly people posting AC news and debating the smoking laws. While I find that stuff interesting and have participated in those discussions, it seems that half the people here don't even go to AC regularly, if at all. So I'm wondering if any of you know of any site where people actually talk about AC.

well, doc, you can always start a new forum question you know. ask it and see if it goes any further than the SMOKING QUESTIONS i have seen many more questions on this forum pertaining to other aspects of ac too.
i would like to know how the outlets are doing seeing they keep building more and more. is it safe to walk around at these outlets? does the jitney take you to and from the outlets from the casinos? now with summer coming there will be the crowds again. last week i was there and saturday all day, the boardwalk was packed with people of all ages, etc.
i hear there will be a farmers market coming to the boardwalk area this summer too. what are they building where the fire took some of those shops last year? construction in form of steel frame going up but no signs as to what will be there yet.

answer to all AC question

The outlets suck

The casinos suck

Atlantic city sucks

This is why their are no conversations about AC because it sucks. Also it has always been safe to walkl around the walk unless you are some kinda pansy or something.

School programs, or lack thereof, have little or nothing to do with Atlantic City and its industry. As for things for kids to do other than at school, there is probably no more or less for kids than in any other community. That said, there is: the AC Aquarium, Steel Pier, Absecon Lighthouse, nearby Ocean City Boardwalk, Storybook Land, Smithville, the beaches in season. There's also a decent zoo if you want to drive 30-minutes South.

The Outlets are doing well enough for a second major expansion. It's safe to walk around in the area, but not too great to go North (or what you may think of as West). The jitneys run one block from the Outlets, and some go through the Outlets to the Convention Center. I would be surprised if the farmers market is on the Boardwalk (it wasn't last time). Not sure about the fire site, but it seems logical that at least some of the previous tenants will be back (Irene's has been around for many years.)

hi doc Steve.,
Just back from Ac/Borgata this week while on vacation, the casinos are lifeless. Kids, 20 somethings mostly at night hanging at the bars getting drunk. no big lines at the front desk check in. not much happening in the way of entertainment, the same old comedy club routine. Most Slot machines sit quiet without players, still a small crowd in the smoking areas which are small and condensed.

most gaming tables including the Asian tables (during the week) are shut down and the few they have open are packed with the same regular players and minimum was $15. black jack (wow)

The few shops that the Borgata has are quiet and most of the sales people stand around looking bored. security and slot techs look like they wish they had a better job with their sad faces.

the cocktail girls come by more often looking to serve drinks but there seems to be a lot less of them.

the buffet line lines were wide open. seating took less then 5 minutes at dinner.

guess more things are happening during the weekend? don't know for sure.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course. What I was looking for, though, was to hear from people who think otherwise, like my wife and I. We spent the day in AC yesterday and had a very nice time despite the crappy weather. We visited Ballys/Wild West/Caesars. We had a very good lunch at Virginia City Buffet. We played at both Ballys and Caesars. We collected our free earrings from the Caesars promo (no we didn't win the diamonds). And we took a stroll through The Pier and picked up some fudge we had promised to bring back for our daughter.

We wanted to go to the outlets because Van Huesen was having a good sale, but we were short on time and it was raining so we didn't feel like walking over there anyway.

When the weather is nicer, we will definitely spend time (and money) at the outlets. They are very nice and in walking distance to the casinos.

We didn't get out on the Boardwalk yesterday due to the weather but there was plenty to do indoors to keep us busy (and I don't just mean gambling).

Thanks for the other replies.

this is only my opinion like I have said before I live here and its nothing interesting to me. Most places that talk good about AC is usually someone that owns works or invests in the casinos or atlantic city but the truth will alway remain the same. Atlantic city is lame and only fun to people who come here once in a while. I can easily say AC is officially dead and its only amatter of time before everyone realizes it. Don't get me wrong i wish it wasnt this dead but the truth is all i know.

haha - Whether it is a good place to live, I have no idea. Whether it is a good place to visit is a different question. AC has plenty to attract visitors - gambling, shows, fine dining, casual dining, shopping, etc. If you aren't interested in any of those things, that's up to you, but you make it sound like nobody is interested. As I said, we were there yesterday. There were an awful lot of cars in the lot and people in the shops, restaurants and casinos who apparently haven't gotten the message that "AC is officially dead". I'm sure that news would come as quite a surprise to them.

And no, I don't own, work or invest in the casinos. I just happen to enjoy going to them.

I didn't start this thread to debate why I enjoy AC. I started it to figure out where to find the millions of others who feel the same way. Clearly, there are many here who don't fit that description.

Those millions of people you are looking for that enjoy AC are there right now and not wasting their time on this silly forum. and Most of them probably can not afford a computer anyway since they spend it all in AC...

I once enjoyed AC and went 3-4 times a month but now that I can not lite my pipe in the casinos or even walk around with it unlit. I prefer going to the PA casinos where they do not have a problem with my pipe and if they ever put smoking bans in PA casinos I will find other places to enjoy my life the way I want and it does NOT have to be casinos. Just a good walk in the woods will do just fine.. I really feel AC blew it BIG TIME by not working with the casinos to build smoking rooms separated from the non smokers. But the cry babies want to have it all and the hell with anyone else..

My wife and I go to AC 3-4 days every month and always have a great time. I have to agree that the AC city govt. is blowing it big time. They simply do not know how to manage a casino resort city.
