The Oconto City council has no business sense. Denying Walgreen's to locate because it may force Oconto pharmacy to be more competitive is socialism and not American. Oconto will always stay insignificant and never grow as long as these backwards thinkers are in power.

It's a good thing they made the 41 Oconto bypass, we won't have to watch businesses suffer and die while this city council stagnates and kills the economy of Oconto.

I cannot believe the minds of our so called officials. Shouldn't they be trying to help Oconto stay strong and help with economic growth?? With all the backwards thinking around here this town is doomed to die out. Walgreens would have been a great addition to our town... but no they powers that be feel it would infringe on the Oconto Pharmacy and perhaps put them out of business. Well maybe the Oconto Pharmacy should become a better place to shop, improve their customer service and then they could compete with Walgreens!! Same goes for Pamida! Horrible service there and the prices are high!! Maybe we should all think about who we vote for in the next election and find some people who can envision Oconto growing and attracting good new business which then would create jobs in the community. Couldn't we use a few more here??? This is not just about the pharmacy..the article refers to the fact that no new businesses would be accepted here if they compete with an existing business. How stupid is that???

Smart Girl! Michele It's people like you that can make a difference, While politicians spend most of their day trying to stay in office or saving their buddies businesses ass. It's real people like you eventually win the day and make a difference. Economics is self righting. Sometimes It takes a while, but it always happens. Basic economics 101 always wins. Politicians can screw it up for a while until it fails then we come in and fix it. Maybe the Oconto board should build a library of congress, a life size replica of the white house and the house of congress too...

You know what they say about this being the season of goodwill to all men? Well, you get the chance to put it into action today by being understanding, tolerant and compassionate towards the people you meet. This doesn't mean you should condone anything awful that they do, but simply that you need to look beyond that to the larger picture.
