Christopher LaVone is a social worker and political activist. How does that make him a pathetic person? This was a terrible ACCIDENT. We have all lost a wonderful human being but attacking Mr. LaVone will not bring her back.

I agree with Marchaline. Chris is also a wonderful human being and describing him as "pathetic" would only come from a "holier than thou" attitude and ignorance. It was an accident that could not have been prevented as the victim was not using a crosswalk, wearing dark clothes and has been reported to walk out in front of vehicles. Quit putting all of the blame on Chris without knowing the FACTS.

Sarah was in the crosswalk, wearing light colored clothing, clearly seen by the witness. LaVone was speeding, ran the red light, was so intoxicated he was weaving two hours later and left the scene, leaving her in the road to die alone. What kind of wonderful human being would do that?

AND the "walking out in front of vehicles' part of your comment was a mistake in the newspaper. The newspaper thought at first she might have been one of the homeless people that lived under the bridge.
She indeed was a valued community member and business woman, not homeless nor careless nor prone to stepping out in front of vehicles.
Check the police report for your FACTS.

He slowed down after impact for a moment and then sped off to Tesuque and hid in the woods behind the post office for two hours while his blood alcohol level dropped, When found, he was still intoxicated. He said he had had one drink.
