Anyone know why Chris Johnson is not at the Coomes Center?

Also, what do you think about the number of days the center is closed during the holidays? The last two years it has been the day before Christmas, Christmas day, the day after Christmas, early the day before New Years, New Years day, and the day after. Thats five and a half days for 2 days of holiday.

I don't think that was what was posted at the start of the season, but when I went by this morning it had changed. Personally I think it is way to much time to be closed.

The hours are open more than gyms, Besides there are too many mothers out there that use it for a daycare (dropping off the young)

I can't stand the gym hours either. Although I know that the price for membership is very reasonable, I still pay A LOT of money for them to be closed so often! It seems as if every time I get a little time off from work (when I ACTUALLY have time to go work out), they're closed! It drives me nuts!

And what do you mean Chris Johnson isn't at the Coomes Center? Has he left permanently or just temporarily?

Too bad that mothers would rathere drop their kids off at the fgym then spend time with them while they ate out of school.

If you want to know about Mr. Johnson just call the town hall and ask Mr. Kelly. I heard he was the one that let him go. Anyway, remember that these workers have familes too and would like to spend it with them. You know that someone always has to complain about something. That's what keeps the world going around.

If this Chris Johnson was the man I'm thinking of, he was a tall silver-haired gentleman who drove his silver local-govt.-issued Crown Vic around Abingdon all day and condescended and acted "important" to everyone who he came in contact with. I had a minor altercation with him some years ago when he wouldn't let a group of 10-12 kids whom I was supervising into the center. Their parents were ALL local taxpaying residents, and thus, he really had to right to deny them entry. No, I'm not starting something, just making my statement. If my I.D. was in error, I'll retract it... Cheers, everyone!

Webster, it sounds like you know more than you're telling. It also sounds like you either work for the town or have close ties. I have no problem with the Coomes employees taking holidays off. That's only fair to anyone. But I pay A LOT of money to be able to use the gym and I believe that taking four days off for Christmas is rediculous! Most people don't get that and the Coomes center is funded through membership fees and taxpayers money!

As far as Chris goes...I've had several dealings with him over the years and he's always looked down his nose and "tolerated" my concerns at best. He acted like he was too busy to "deal" with me and I have serious doubts as to whether he was actually even listening to me during conversations. I think that there are several other folks who could do a better job and represent the community more effectively! My hat is off to you Greg; job well done!

i heard that he stumbled across an affair that a married mother of one, employee is having with a member of the coomes. He would catch them spending time together quite frequently in her office, childcare, the weight room. He was very rude to the doctor and his mistress during these encounters. She and her under cover lover made complaints about their treatment.

you should've asked Santa for a brain. Most moms that use the childcare are stay at home moms with preschool kids. Besides that moms can't just leave their kids at the gym and go run errands. They have a work out plan or a class to attend. Sorry that you don't think that a mom should take time out of her busy schedule to take care of herself, maintain a healthy lifestyle as well as set a good example for her kids by getting a little exercise. You are stupid and probably a BIG FAT MEAN MOMMY to boot.

I know who your talking about! She also said that the members were complaining about the old and outdated nautilus equipment and were requesting spin bikes. Against Chris' better judgement, She downsized the nautilus from 15 machines to 8. The members were peeved and blamed Chris for the unwanted spin bikes and lack of nautilus equipment. The members have been complaining about that room ever since it was downsized to share its space with the spin bikes.
The spin bike classes aren't doing very well either.
On the surface, She seems like such a nice lady. Remember the old saying, "never judge a book by its cover," in this case it is so true.

I hear that his soon to be ex wife Ann, Mrs. B. Conrad and friends have have been running a smear campaign against him for quite some time. Ann tried to blackmail him into giving her and her illegitimate brood the house, the furnishings including his personal belongings in a divorce settlement. When he fought back, got an Attorney, and proved her allegaitions to be a LIE, things got UGLY. Greg had to give him his job back and warned him to stay away from the public eye. He did. Ann, Mrs. Conrad and friends just couldn't let it go. Greg Kelly has never cared for Chris. The affair Chris stumbled upon was just bad timing and when the lovers complained, that was the straw that broke the camels back. So really he was just a victim of bad timing and bad people. I just hope he can find another job, at his age, it's going to be tough.

Just keeping up with all the old hometown news during a job layoff, old boy. Yes, I'm a "he", you can rest assured. And since you deem me a "winner", let me instruct you that the word is "you're", not "your". If you're gonna attack, then learn proper usage. Most high school-ers have grasp of this--why don't you?

YES, when it was proven beyond a doubt that the wifes allegations were false, he got his job back. He then stumbled onto the ongoing affair.
He thought he was doing the adultress a favor by running her lover off. He didn't realize what he had gotten himself into. The lovers were slighted and they went separately to council members and Greg. The whole story was not told or she would be the one out on her can.

Geez Webster, You need to get to the Coomes Center ASAP to sweat out some of your rage. This forum is meant for folk's opinions. Doesn't mean it's the gospel. You can't take it all personally.

And JB, everybody misspells or mistypes occasionally. I'm sure you've done it as well. No need to be nasty.

If we're going to debate, let's make it over the issues, not petty pride or hurt feelings. Instead, let's make it educational and thought-provoking for all involved. Bickering just makes everyone look rediculous.

English minor, actually. My former profession involved dealing with unpleasant people, though. So, why you are an immature blowhard douche'-receptacle? Why didn't you just respond on the forum if you didn't like what I said? Otherwise, you don't have to read or like what I write. I'd bet that you work for the town of Abingdon or are a friend or acquaintance of the aforementioned guy in question. Hell, you might even BE him! Tough talk from you, my friend... I'll gladly meet you, if that's what you want.
