I visited the St. Joseph website and no listing of Dr. McKain was found. I too miss Dr. McKain and would like to know more.
try whitepages.com for his phone number. also, you can locate the whereabouts of any licensed doctor thru medical licensing websites of all states

Dr.McKain was the best orthropedic doctor I have ever had. He was truly a great person and he was an awesome doctor. This world needs more like him. He never overloaded me with medication and gave me a desire to do my best in therapy and recovery. I can never praise his work ethics enough. I truly miss his prsence in our area and look forward to seeing him again. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS YOU in your future practice. your patient,Jan Nichols

I was fortunate enough to be treated by Dr. McKain about 20 years ago when I was in elementary school. To this day, I still remember Dr. McKain and appreciate his care, concern and respect given to me, even at a young age. Dr. McKain- you are truly a blessing and are to be commended for your care and compassion. After all of these years, if I knew anyone that was in need of an Orthopedic Doctor, I always told them your name. Thank you again- I think it is commendable and speaks highly of you and the impression you made on me at a young age. I wish you and your family the best, although I hate to hear you are no longer in the Abingdon area. Thank you again.

My family and I are so deeply indebted to Mrs. McKain for allowing us to find Dr. McKain again. We drive three hours to see him, but it is well worth the time to have his care. Such a remarkable man and doctor.

Ginger, The next time you and your mom are down call me ahead of time and we'll have lunch if you want. I share all of the comments from each of you with him. Thanks for making him feel like the good doc I know he is.

I just went to Dr McKain. Good first impression. All down hill since. He say's he will call you back if you have any question's. Not my experience. Was going to let him do surgery. Very concerned - I left several messages with Premier Orthopedics in London, Ky. He never called me back. That really concerns me. Anyway, does anyone besides his wife have any insight? I won't go in- to my issues here. I would like to do that with him. If he had/would call me back maybe my questions and concerns could be resolved. Anyway, would like to know his deal if anyone knows.

To "Barbourville": I know you asked for comments from anyone other than a wife, but I didn't see you getting them and I didn't want you to think he wouldn't call you back. He even calls people from home when he can't catch them during office hours. I'm sorry about your messages, but I can tell you that two ladies, Joni and Tina, work right next to him and he compliments their competence. If you would consider calling again, perhaps ask for one of them and document who you spoke to and when.

Also, you are welcome to message through my Facebook (I read any applicable ones to him) and give your phone number to him that way. Then you would at least know he got the message and you can be upset with him fairly if he doesn't call - but that's not the Dr. McKain I'm used to - promise.

Hope to hear from you soon - and hope you're doing well.

do you think a dr who lost a large ($) law suit would immediately (1st time you see them) recommend surgery to rebuild that nest that was ravaged? do you think a person like that might tell you that in their career thay had not seen 6 or 7 knees (from x-ray) that had looked worse and that dr says he just don't know how i'm walking; yet i can and do. do you think a person with an agenda might just use scare tatics to guide you into a surgery? do you think a dr like that would might know surgery would return the highest yield on time and engery spent? i don't know. just using the puzzle pieces i have mentioned (and the one's i have not mentioned) to search and explore different scenario's. what do you think?

I actually have been coming to the office he works at since 2008. Have been so frustrated by past experiences. When I was referred to Dr McKain. Right off I was impressed by his compassion. That is why ive cant understand no return calls nor the refusal to see me. Ive had a TKR 1 1/2 yrs ago.I understand if he feels he has done all he can do for that. But what about other problems now and in the future. At least give me a referral to another orthopedic Dr.6455

I had surgery right before they left Abingdon. While I cannot complain about the work he did, I was totally ticked off when I go to my scheduled follow up and the doors are locked with a note. Here I am going for my first follow up and they don't even let their patients know anything. I had to scramble for a new doctor to be approved on my workman's comp. policy. Totally unprofessional.
