What's the big deal? There's nothing wrong with what the officer said. It was a joke! Can't an officer have a sense of humor? He said he told the guy the same thing. This is the problem with scanners: you people sit and listen (and it is spelled "listen") for the slightest slip-up just to have something to bitch about. Don't you have a life?
If all you have to do is listen to every single conversation by the police and then run and post it on the net, you have WAY too much time on your hands.
If the officer would have asked dispatch to contact him on his phone instead, you would have been crying because you didn't hear the conversation.
If you have a VALID complaint about the police, then call their supervisor or file a complaint.
How about volunteering some of that down time trying to find faults with the police and do something good for your community if you really care so much?

Wow, I felt sorry for you when everyone made such a huge deal about your posts but now I see that you are a troublemaker. You are not trying to "inform" your community you are trying to destroy it. I listened the audio and he didn't really say anything that bad and you made the choice to use a different name and criticize an officer on a public forum. You have lost all respect from me and probably many others. I am going to go on a limb here and guess that you are a wannabe that just couldn't make the cut. Well, congrats because you have shown the community why you aren't worthy of any position that allows you to have sensitive information. My best advice to you is to go get a life and stop harrassing the local police officers. They are doing their jobs which is more than anyone can say for you considering that you listen to a scanner 24/7 and then post everything on topix. It is pathetic really, and just remember karma is a real bitch. You should probably walk a straight line because I am sure there are many who would like to air your dirty laundry all over here.

I have no interest in being an officer. I pay the officers' salary with taxes and if I feel there’s a comment that "hey that wasn’t very professional" I feel I not only have a right to voice my opinion but an obligation. He shouldn’t have said it over the radio if he didn’t want all of Abingdon to hear it.

I have a right to my opinion just as you do to call me whatever. Are you afraid to make your accusations under a profile identifying yourself? Im Mike Hale, who are you?

Congrats Mike, you pay taxes! Everyone pays taxes, including cops, so doesn't that mean they help pay their own salaries? Therefore, you don't own them. You know that you can't make a point with this so use the same old lines to back you up, "I pay their salaries" and my personal favorite "I triple dog dare you to post your real name". It is not the point of if he cared for people to hear it. Of course, he didn't but you posted it to discredit the APD. Your intentions are pretty obvious. What you don't realize is that you didn't achieve your goal, you just discredited yourself. So have at it, you will just achieve the title of "the idiot on topix". It doesnt take a lot to discredit the APD, officer drunk in public,veteran officer allows guy in back set to steal his partol car and crash it, over the years I have heard some crazy things on the scanner by cops sitting on the mic, most the time late at night when they think no one is listening.
