Hey, I go to a small church and have heard all kinds of stories regarding us. The funny part is they come from people that have never stepped foot in our building. There has to be drama in life, so some people get bits and pieces and make up their own story. I just say, come visit, make up your mind and if theres been a snake in our church it must have crawled out the back door as I was running out the front.

I agree sissy. Go to the church for yourself and see what they are. If you are a Christian, there are no worries since you'll know what the right decision is.
Just because there is corruption in EVERY church, even it it's only among some members, doesn't make the church bad. Remember that we are humans and humans err.

To the person who said Jimmie encourages women to follow the church and God above their husband, that is not only wrong but complete opposite of what he says. He in fact once had a woman tell him she wanted to come to church and wanted to tithe and her husband was against it. She asked Jimmie what to do, and Jimmie said he is your husband and you must follow what he says. He told her NOT to go to church and NOT to tithe if it was against what her husband wanted. PLEASE STOP LYING ABOUT MY CHURCH.
I do not condone bashing any religion and I truly believe that there are wonderful people in every church.
That being said, does this church really teach women to OBEY their husbands or, for that matter, any man above God? If this woman felt the need to go to church and her husband was against it, shouldn't she follow what God has put upon her heart first? Does this Jimmy also condone a husband beating his wife because he is the MAN and she must do what he says?

It's about being an example for her husband. If she said "screw you hubby, I'm going to church whether you like it or not", the husband would just get mad and never be intrigued to learn why she loved church so much. But because she told him she would do what he said, he was intrigued ended up saying it was ok with him if she went. She got through to him by treating him with respect. You catch more flies with honey.

1 Peter 3: 1-7 "Wives, in the same way (that Jesus was submissive for our sake), be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."

If you read the last sentence you can see that no, a wife should not condone her husband beating her. Of course not. She doesn't HAVE to do what "the man" says, she CHOOSES to do what GOD says. BUT, if she's smart, only in a situation where the man is ALSO doing what God says.

Why would people who know the leadership of this church is utterly corrupt continue to go there and support them with their tithes? If you are supporting corruption God is not pleased. If you know who you are supporting is corrupt God is not receiving the use of the funds to further the kingdom. This bunch does support lying if it furthers their plan. Gods wrath will fall on those who have used His name to bring wealth and prestige on themselves and pad their pockets and offer their families a high on the hog lifestyle.

Defected from that "church" 2 years ago. Everything you are hearing is true EXCEPT:

-no atm in the lobby or anywhere else

-no asking for financial statements for membership

-no "armed guards" but yes 2 or 3 police officers

-jimmie did say do what your husband says if he says no church, no tithe.

It is corrupt. Looks great from the outside. Get involved and in about 6 months to a year, you will begin to see what's going on behind the scenes. Oh, and don't even ask for a detailed description of where tithes go, you won't get it. You'll get a general "music director makes" , "money going to missions" , but nothing in detail and you will also be told if you don't trust us with your tithes, go somewhere else.

Yes, there is a group that meets for Bible Study on Thursday nights at 6:30 PM in the church Cafe. We also schedule events and outings to encourage fellowship and fun. Come join our group, we'd love to have you!

Lawrence S - If indeed what you say is true, the IRS should be notified. Knowledge of a crime makes a person liable, especially if a felony has been committed. Someone else posted earlier in this blog, that Highlands year end financial statement was not clear and concise. This would lead most to believe something illegal was going on. A lot of money can be hidden in foreign missionary work. And Highlands does alot of missionary work around the world. I hope that Highlands is legitimate and is indeed sending the message of our Lord around the world.

How do they get the musicians and singers they have? They all seem a little too talented to be in one church.

They are all paid! the show is the name of the game. They do not have to be members or even believers for that matter.

Is there any good people out here in this world anymore? Why is everyone trying to tear each other down and most of all tear our churches down? Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. God will hear and answer your prayer to be a better person. If you can't say something good about someone, then just don't say anything. Wouldn't that work out alot better? I had a dear old Mother who always taught us kids that if someone will gossip with you they will gossip about you. So, keep that thought in mind the next time you start to tear someone down on this internet. Say to yourself, "Would I say something like this to this person's face?" If the answer is no, then God is speaking to you not to write mean things about each other. Lift people up, it works everytime.
