A Southwest Virginia kindergarten teacher is in trouble with the law. Washington County, Virginia sheriff’s deputies raided an underage drinking party held late Friday at the house of a local kindergarten teacher. Forty-two-year-old Meadowview Elementary School teacher, Jennifer Lynn Cook is charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Deputies say as many as 25 people were inside the home when deputies arrived. And just for the record. A teen I think the name was Daniel or something got a text.. Called the police and told them about it. Also the police had ever right to bust this and did nothing wrong.. So if this turns into a trashing talking topic. I will have it deleted as the editor for Abingdon/Washington county topix I ask you to keep it clean please. And don't say the mom didn't know there was 20 or so kids in her house drinking... Because you know she had to. And someone said someone got off the hook because of who they know.. well... who knows now days huh? But I think our officers did a great job at what there paid to do.

Yep. They did what they were paid to do.
If a parent can't trust a school teacher then who can they trust these days.

The Washington County police need to be busting real criminals. This is getting ridiculous. Give that poor woman her job back. This has nothing to do with how well she can teach kindergarten.

She has not lost her job yet. Washington County Police just responded to a phone call. I'll don't think this will go anywhere.

This has nothing to do with how well she can teach kindergarten. How do you define the word criminal? A criminal is someone who commits a crime. A crime is something that is against the law. It is against the law to give alcohol to someone under the age of 21. So therefore since it is against the law it must be a crime, and one who commits a crime is a criminal. The police really did bust a criminal.

i think thats its preaty dumb that they would go the extent of making her lose her job and i also beleave that yea it was wrong to allow that many kids to be drinking at a party that she knew she would get in trouble if it were to get busted b ut that was her choise and whats the big deal its just a few kids hangin out and drinkin a lil bit.

This has turned out to be a bashing for this woman. Yes, what happened at her home is a crime. Let her deal with this and the kids that were charged deal with this matter. If you are not one of the so called twenty five kids there how do you really no what has happened. It is easy to pass judgement when you or your family is not involved.

What ever happened to freedom?
Was it affecting any of you in any way that people were at some house somewhere drinking?
Am I a criminal because the police say I am a criminal or am I a criminal because I did something that is actually, by moral standard, wrong?
Because the government isn't inherently correct.
I don't drink and I don't find drinking to be a constructive thing whatsoever, but it isn't affecting me or my freedom (or illusion thereof as it may be) for someone else to do such.
Why are you so quick to defend a system that has become so unjust?

Thank you AHS Album. Virginia and there little laws need to be looked at. I am a student at PHHS. That does not make what i say any less important than your all's. Mrs. Cook, The Cook’s in general is some of the nicest people I have ever met. It is pathetic that you people are wishing her to loose her job when she did nothing. All these ads in newspapers and on television is down right pathetic, her job has nothing to do with what went on the other night. So there should be a different title instead of Kindergarten Teacher charged with contributing to minors. That is her professional life, which she does a great job at, and all of her kids love her. I know plenty of people who drink. The kids will do it anyways. The alcohol age of 21 needs to go because if I will die for this country at war then I should be able to drink as I please. Most teenagers that drink does it responsibly anyways, we are not stupid because we are young. When I am 20 years and 11 months old I will not change any more maturely and responsibly than when I am 21 and legal. This county police, and school system (mainly school system) is corrupt. The schools code of conduct goes against constitutional rights, and instead if dismissing an employee for something that went on at there home life they should be supporting them. I know plenty of adults in our so called county that has WILD lives, yet they are not on the spot light. Kids will drink, most of you done this when you were our age and now you are being hypocritical about this and acting like a pure angel. I would rather be doing it responsibly than doing it somewhere else and risking my life.

Honestly, this is jus about the most dragged out thing possible. This couldve happened to anyone. Why make it such a big deal. Kids will always drink and finda away around it if they are told not to. And the teacher should not lose her job because the party has nothing to do with her career

Sure... Most kids will drink... Sure, I don't agree with the drinking age... But the LAW IS THE LAW... And its just not against the law in va... It is in ever state.. And I am not saying she should lose her job but there should be some kind of punishment and I am sure there will be. Because parents will go to the school board.. And they cant stand around and do nothing. As seth testerman said above... You can go to war and die for our country... But you cant drink?? well... I Don't really have a opinion on that... But happens at the cooks has happen repeatably and just never been caught.. A teen called the police and told them about the party or so forth.. Weather they want to or not the have to respond.. and if there is laws being broke then they must enforce them. Maybe if some people were not smart asses they would get along better with people in the world. point is... if you cant do the time... Don't do the crime.. and someone said that she was sick and sleep in her bed... I do not want to hear that bs... you cant tell me you don't know what 20-25 kids are doing in your own home. Now... I know some of you are going to... So go head... flame me all you want... I could care less. The police did there job... I know it.. and you know it... and there damn good at doing it...

And not only do u think the mom is disapointed about this. Think about her the kid feels who had the party to know that your mom is being blamed for it all and could possibly lose her job.
