My wife and I want to go see the A-team today, but have heard that there may be some kind of bug infestation. One of my friends went a couple weeks ago and and he and his wife came out COVERED in some kind of bug bites. Has anyone been here more recently? If so, any problems?

My grandson and I went to see "shriek" and every thing was clean and nice. Like this place to watch
movies and enjoy their buttered popcorn and the quite way to really enjoy the movies.

I can't think of one time that I have had a bad experience at the Abingdon Cinemall. I've been watching movies there since before I moved down here. I used to travel an hour to watch certain movies there due to their being the theater with the best sound in the whole area.

It's the only local family run theater in the area that I know of, and still the best in my book.

Well thats nice wish everyone could say the same!!!I'll go to Bristol with my kids where they smile and speek nicely to people, instead of the way they act there! Im sure a lot of kids would say the same!

I think the Abingdon Cinemall is truly the best theater around us for many hours drive any way. The sound quality is fantastic. The owner is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet and he truly cares about his customers. The seats are good, although I liked the ones previous to the ones there now. The concession stand is good. The employees are divided. Some are very nice and helpful, some are not nice, not helpful and seem like they just don't want to be there and are mad at the world. I love the black light effect down the halls. It would be nice to have a few benches out front to sit and wait if you are early for your movie, but that is about the only complaint other than the prices of the concession stand and that is a problem that is not going to go away here or anywhere. So, I am a very happy patron and want to say thank you to the owner and all who keep it going!:-)

The sound system and picture quality means a lot to me and a theater. No one has a better sound system than the Cinemall, and anyone in this area who says they do is lying, I know I'm extremely picky about movie theater sound, and have experienced nearly every theater in the area.

Your needs are different than mine, I don't care if the workers are smiling and friendly to my face, actually I know nearly all the people at the Cinemall and have talked with them many times while waiting to be seated.

Sometimes you just get what you pay for, I'd say most don't make much more than minimum wage, and their attitude reflects that. I'm sure the same can be said for a Tinseltown; however, they have a supervisor there to crack a whip on them to make sure they greet you and smile at the appropriate times.

Watch Clerks sometime, just because they serve you doesn't mean they like you. I prefer an honest "doesn't want to be there" attitude to blowing rose perfume up your rear end, because they have to, any day. But that's just me, I used to work for minimum wage and dealt with the public, I know the fake smile all too well. LOL!

Soo, if you DON'T bring your own snacks, you're a chicken. And if you do, you are potentially in danger of a shake down?

For what it's worth, I always bring my own M&M's.

For those of you who do not know this the prices at the concession are high because that is how theaters make their profit. About 98% of the. Ticket sales go straight to Hollywood. Hollywood ultimately sets the ticket prices and that varies from city to city state to state. All theaters have the policy NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK for this very reason. If the patrons were allowed to bring their own snacks they wouldn't need to buy concession snacks therfore the theatre would make no profit and no profit = no theatre. I have been around and worked in the movie business literally all my life and do know what I am saying is true. I have always prefered Cinemall over Tinsel Town. Cinemall has better sound and seating. The staff are always friendly although a few could brush up on their knowledge of the upcoming movies. Cinemall just has a fun atmosphere. Take this info to heart or direguard it the choice is yours. :)

The theater itself is great probably the best around but a few weeks ago my wife and I went too see a R rated movie but they wouldn't let her in because she didn't have her ID. I had mine and still they wouldn't let her in I mean comeon she's 22 and I'm 24,so we went too bristol I mean I could see if we were 16 or even looked 16,and the manager got hateful with us not the Hubble lady some other one.

Although I do not watch many movies, I went to this dump of a movie theatre a few years ago because a family member wanted me to watch a movie with him. I remember the experience quite well -- there was a horrible smell of mildew in the air, the people who worked there were rude and acted like jerks!

I vowed never to return, and I have not since that day. When I spend that kind of money for entertainment, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, and not like they are begrudgingly doing me some sort of favor by simply doing there jobs.

The theater has changed in the last few years, even the employees. A nice place to visit, but will cost a little more than it did years ago.
