Nothing bad to say just look at there record, the way they are operatered, it speaks for its self. Unless your mad or got kicked off the crew cause you could not be a real member. And if you have a problem see the captian.

there are a few members that need to go, they think they have seen it all, and are gonna end up getting their ass burnt on a bad call and killing someone.

Unfortunately, EVERY organization has a few like that. Most of the EMS organizations I've been involved with, both professional and "unpaid professional" (volunteer), are composed of extremely dedicated members who take their training and duties very seriously. It's a shame that the entire squad/crew/firehouse is usually judged by the careless or unprofessional comments or behavior of one or two misguided members.

I think they are an aesome bunch. They have taken very good care of my family members in the past. Unfortunately, they do not receive the funding the bunch across the street from them get form the town. I know there officers do not have the shiny SUV's to ride around in. I think it is a credit to them that they can be self-sustaining and do not have to rely on charity from the municipalities as much as some. as for members who think they know it all, all organizations have those. Unfortunately, the person making the comment above about know-it-alls is affiliated with an organization that has many more than anyone else. You can just ask anyone else involved in Washington County emergency services and they will tell you the same thing. AFD needs to take care of their own problems before they try slamming other agencies.

I am very grateful to them. They have helped my family out in a couple situations. They really knew what they were doing and did a great job at it. That being said, I had thought that I would look into getting trained and volunteering as well, however after hearing about all the drama that goes on with the different fire/life saving crews, I decided otherwise. I dropped the drama in college for a reason. It seems to never stop from my understanding.

I am proud to want to volunteer with WCLSC! My father and uncle were both in it as life members years ago. I'm sure a lot has changed since then but I would have to say that the members I've met and talked to so far have seemed very profssional and do seem to take their duties very seriously. I think sometimes it all has to do with maturity and actually caring and feeling proud about the services you do. I hope to be voted in soon and even though very recently I know there is some very hard times going on right now I don't think that any member really doesn't care about their duties. It's really just like a real job...you will always feel like some people might not take it as seriously as you do or care as much...but they are there..and at least we still have people in ths county to try! You always do have the choice to stay out of the drama if you want. If I had the money...I would donate as much as I could to WCLSC....just because sometimes I think especially during these hard times....it takes a toll on each and every one person. Caring, being motivated, and always willing to learn something new every day no matter how old or young you are...now that is what matters!!!

I believe that this is the case in all public service areas (fire, ems, police, etc...). People tend to relate a bad encounter or experience to a whole department which could possibly be far from the truth.

If "afd232" is a member of the Abingdon Fire Department, their comment is disgraceful to the organization. No matter where you go, there will always be personality conflicts with members of other organizations you regularly work with. I'm sure some members of each place have negative opinions of the other, and that is their right. Until differences are set aside and acceptance is achieved, who knows how great the combined work of those two outstanding organizations could be!

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Leo

If you're worried about running up big debts in what is usually one of the most expensive months of the year, start keeping a running total of how much money you've spent so far. You might have to restrict the amount you spend on Christmas presents, or make other savings in order to stay within your budget, but you realize the folly of ending up severely out of pocket.
