Has anyone heard anything about New Peoples Bank being investigated for unethical lending practices?

Would you care to elaborate on that?

Haven't heard any specifics but do know that the CEO and #2 man are "no longer with the bank". As a customer I would like to know that my money is safe. Seems like a good place, but maybe I don't know everything?

Maybe they were making so much money that they decided to take early retirement and spend some of it?

S.S.:

How does one define "unethical lending practices"?

The CEO, Kenneth Hart, retired to work on his farm. That's what people do after working their entire life. He only worked in the bank industry 40+ years. Shame that a good man gets rumors started just by retiring.

Wasn't trying to start any rumor, it was just strange when I asked a teller at the Bristol branch she had a look on her face like I had 2 heads or something. It just seemed that she was reciting a line that she was instructed to repeat when asked. Congrats to the man for retirement. 40 years is a long time.

I was raised near Kenneth, never in my life time have I ever know that man to work in an unethical manner.
Kenneth made that bank by the people for the people. If he started another bank I and alot of other people would follow.

There seems to be a lot of activity and interest in New Peoples Bank on this site, so here are some facts for you. First, let me say that although I don’t always agree with my husband, in this case, I agree with him 100%. I want to thank him, my family, friends, and New Peoples Bank employees for their support of Kenneth Hart. They all know Kenneth is a compassionate, honest, hard-working man who is being victimized by gossip.
Everyone knows that New Peoples Bank prospered during the years of Kenneth Hart’s dedicated service as President and CEO. Even though he has been treated unfairly, he is still concerned about the welfare of the bank. Kenneth was a leader in organizing the bank for the people of his community so that they would not have to deal with all of the red tape and charges at bigger banks. Due to recent decisions from the almighty board of directors, Kenneth is being forced to take actions that might seem detrimental to the bank by some people.
If you look at the 2008 annual report you will find the bank was in good financial condition when Kenneth retired. Circumstances at the bank seem to be in shambles now. We hear that people with good credit can’t get loans and the employees have no one to support them in decisions they have to make. Obviously, the board of directors are looking for a scapegoat.
Anyone who is a stockholder or has other investments at the bank would be well-advised to sit up and take notice at what is going on. When the next election of the board of directors takes place, I hope there is a lot of interest. We need strong people, maybe even some women, on this board who will stand up for their convictions of what is right for an employee – and still be able to hold their head up and look people in the eye the next day. How many times do we want to hear,“We know we didn’t do the right thing”?
I think it is time that the board of directors be held accountable to the investors in New Peoples Bank. Maybe they should share some of their minutes from their closed door sessions. Do they think they can take a man’s retirement benefits from him after all the years he spent working and promoting that bank? They have let Kenneth as well as all of us down. Where is their integrity in standing behind the agreement they all made with him? I can guarantee that Kenneth Hart would never have backed down in this situation. Everyone knows HE is not that kind of man.
Kenneth is not going to give up without a fight for his rights. He has endless support from his family and friends. I hope that when you see him, you will offer him your support as well.

Kenneth Hart's Proud Sister,
Linda Gay Hart Kiser

P.S. For the few of you that Kenneth helped throughout the years who are not publicly supporting him, SHAME ON YOU.
