WELLS — A Wells man sustained serious injuries and a man and woman from Washington were killed early Sunday morning when a semi-trailer ran into the back of a car parked along the highway south of Wells.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Samuel Wayne Rosenbaum, 50, of Abingdon, Va., was driving north at 3:20 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 93 about 30 miles south of Wells when he struck the back of a parked Buick Skylark.

The report states the car was in the process of being towed by Jesse Pengelly, 20, of Wells for Roadway Towing. A 64-year-old man and 54-year-old woman, both from Spokane, were sitting in the Skylark with their dog when their car was struck.

The car containing the man and woman was struck with such force that it was propelled up the rollback bed of the tow truck and over the top of the truck’s cab, striking the cab in the process. As the Skylark was moving up the rollback, Pengelly was hit and thrown away from the truck. He sustained serious injuries and was flown by Summit Air to University of Utah Hospital.

The man and woman and dog in the Skylark died at the scene.

It was noted by the Elko's Fire department’s incident report that all areas of the car were damaged, and it was on its roof when firefighters arrived.

Rosenbaum and his passenger, Summer Tentille Delp, 33, of Abingdon, Va., were not injured.

The tow truck and Skylark were on the east shoulder when the incident occurred. Rosenbaum told troopers that he saw the tow truck safety lights and attempted to slow down. His truck started to skid, so he tried to steer left. The right front of his semi struck the left rear of the Skylark.

Citations or charges are pending. According to Lt. Michael Grigg, the identities of the man and woman from Washington were not being released at this time because his office had not been able to contact their next of kin. Their identities were expected to be released today.

What did you gain from posting this? Do you think people around here are going to think bad about the truck driver? Sounds to me like an ACCIDENT.

They will only think bad of the truck driver if they know them. I dont think bad of truck drivers .. they are HARD working individuals who keep America going ... without trucks ... America stops ... but its drivers that are out there strung out on drugs and are killing innocent people that are giving the good ones the bad wrap. And for those who know these individuals ~ they can form their own conclusions based on the FACTS & the two's history and reputation .... Not here to judge or have anyone think bad of no one ~ Those that are Professional Drivers ... Open Minded ... Non Bias ... Intelligent Individuals can draw their own opinions ... as that is what they are ... just opinions... but those who know these two may appreciate being made aware that there were "THREE" INNOCENT people killed on a Sunday a.m. and Samuel Rosenbaum & Summer Delp were involved. The Legal System will determine if it SOUNDED LIKE AN ACCIDENT or if it was vehicular homicide ... NOT me .. NOT you ... but the Judge & Jury.

WELLS — The Nevada Highway Patrol confirmed Tuesday that Jesse John Pengelly, 20, of Wells died after being transported Sunday to University of Utah Hospital following a crash that also killed a Washington couple.

NHP also released the identities of the man and woman. According to Sgt. Troy Lindley, they are Michael Eugene Bogue, 64, and Marilyn Louise Bogue, 54, both of Spokane, Wash.

The accident occurred at 3:20 a.m. Sunday when a semi-trailer driven by Samuel Rosenbaum, 50, of Abingdon, Va., struck the back of a Buick Skylark with the couple inside. The couple was in the car with their dog to keep out of the cold weather.

The Skylark was propelled up and over the top of a tow truck that was in the process of loading their vehicle. Pengelly, who was operating the rollback’s controls, was struck by the Skylark as it was launched up the rollback and he was thrown away from the tow truck.

Rosenbaum and his passenger were uninjured.

In the original report, Rosenbaum told troopers that he saw the lights from the tow truck and went to apply his brakes. When that occurred, his semi began to skid. He tried to steer left to the avoid the vehicle on the shoulder, but ended up hitting the left rear of the Skylark.

Just in from local Wash County Va Sheriffs Office.... Samuel Rosenbaum, accused murderer of Jesse Pengelly has been ARRESTED! within the hour (11pm EST See link below for current arrest info)

https://www.vinelink.com/vinelink/detailsActi ...

However it has been reported that US Marshall Office was at local Wash County Abingdon Regional Jail upon his booking and has taken him into Federal Custody and he is currently in transit to the State of Utah to face charges of 3 Counts of Vech Manslaughter.

It was reported by unnamed source that he was found in Saltville home hiding under the kitchen sink and occupant of truck Summer Delp was hiding him in a relative's home. Source says that a warrant is being served for her immediately.

It is finally a relief to know that justice is going to be served in this useless murder of three innocent people.

Its a accident , no prison time or jail time . Its a old topic , theses people should be free to go . Now if were a DUI and suspended licence , the States have mandatory sentence , again less time for a death , then DUI, suspended licence . no money in incarceration for deaths for the States , buts lots of money for traffic charges . People die every hour in America in accidents . no charges are ever filed . Sad to see America the leader of the world for prisons , police , jails , legal system and courts . America built to lock up people .
