I lived in abilene for over 42 years, moved away in 1995 when Lockheed closed . Came back in 2001, got me a house on westview dr the taxes were 1100.00 went to the tax office they cut them to 750.00 but in 2 years it was up about 200.00 again. I"m 68 I do not have to work but the young people there do and there are not any good paying jobs to hold the young,if they leave abilene WILL GO DOWN then the taxes go UP I left again because of high taxes,elec,water,food ect. Here in Seymour tn on a 150.000.00 house taxes are 280.00 I do not have to ask to build anything ,and best of all my taxes are froze at age 65 for life. Elect in 8 cents a KW thats for 1000 KW tptal is 88.00 water 32.00 no gas Go to city hall and let them they WORK for you not the other way around GOD BLESS ALL.

Well I see no one wants to comment on the taxes they want to put on your backs there in abilene,it is easy to just do nothing, Well in 2002 I went to the meetings when they wanted to build new schools and sell bonds to do and have one high school and do away with cooper and abilene high I spoke and was against them doing this because taxes would go up then they DID NOT want any wind farms in taylor county I told them it would have good paying come in;that is the one thing they need big time in abilene is jobs that over wefare pay. Also I told them there would be a time Dyess AFB may down size or would CLOSE there was a few that me that look,you much be nuts;well if you fight back at city hall you can make them miss a step or two and relook the tax. COME ON THERE IN ABILENE DO SONETHING do not shoot the messenger I like abilene and the people this is the reason I am taking time doing this I lived there for 42 years BUT TAXES is the reason I moved to Seymour tn where my taxes are froze at 280.00 a year when I turned 65 FOR LIFE GOD BLESS Come on Abilene Talk to at CITY HALL
